Seems like 5 is a lot to get in one off season.

 

Wow that’s quite the take on our players.

 

We got 5 last year and lost 6. Roster's got a ton of holes to fill.

 

I just reread that link I posted above about the no 25 limit. It says the new rule calls for a hard 85 limit too so teams aren’t allowed to go over it at anytime if I’m understanding it right.

 

In all fairness…these players are used to past staff posturing with no action. We’ve moved on to a new set of expectations

 

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised by a number close to that.

If some of these kids are creating dissention in the troops, you know corch prefers they go buh-bye. He definitely has an eye for talent though. Interesting to see what transpires with the class and the portal. Kind of exciting, really.

I'm still completely and totally puzzled about Whittemore. Not the young kid but our receiver with the good hands that caught over the middle lots. Nutz.

You misread what I wrote. I meant fire all the bad apples that are making things bad. Not fire the entire team.

 

Spot-on about the issue. I have read a ton about Brenton Cox and Kamar Wilcoxson. Napier has a philosophy about plural offenses and enough is enough (I don't understand the limit with the coaching staff. It seems that it involves an analysis by several coaches, so that it's not just a personality clash.) Apparently, if I am understanding correctly, player's are extended a certain amount of grace for F/U. I am not pretending to be in the know. From what I have read on both player's, there were disciplinary issues with both player's (more than one time) and the coaches agreed they did NOT want to keep having to address it. So, good for the staff for being tolerant, yet demonstrating resolve for maintaining boundaries and team discipline!

Do recruits worry about class sizes?
I would think they might look more at who was a head of them on the chart.

 

I think most folks thought we would sign more than 5 last year. Got a lot of holes but not easy to sign 10-15 difference makers out of the portal.

 

I think Napier thought we’d have more than 5 last year as well. Just probably with everything going on, he underestimated what it took. A lot of teams were double digits in transfers-in last year including Ole Miss and LSU…probably more difference makers than their freshmen classes.

I’m no expert but I do believe Napier will prove to be a good hire.Turnarounds usually take more than one season. If the culture needs a makeover, then Napier needs to turnover a lot of the roster. Losing players may hurt on paper but in the long run it’s necessary and helpful.

 

I just read an article in the Athletic and it said Wilcoxson left because he was facing suspension. I thought it was just because he was not getting enough PT.

 

Hopper transferred because he had a brother or cousin who had just played for Jay Bateman at North Carolina and apparently they did not get along. Hopper decided to leave from what we understand

 

Take a look at Kansas this year, I think I read somewhere that the new Coach brought in like 35-45 transfers this year! Heard that when they were off to their fast 5-0 start this year....... Guess it can be done IF you want to go that route?
