Wish him the best of luck going forward. It's best for all involved if he heads on to a place where he can better compete for playing time. I'm glad we are putting the best players on the field as opposed to just playing the guy who has been here longer.

You know what I mean. Kyle Pitts got open and caught passes. Kadarius Toney got open and caught passes? You think the defense feared TW the way they did KP and KT? Not a chance. Those guys were difference makers. Guys that were basically always open. We should be getting that level of receiver.

Sounds a lot like petty jealousy to me. It took Wells 5 years to see the field and he didn't do much at all then.

The best word I can use to describe him, from what I saw when he played is, "clutch". He made some tough, athletic catches at times for the Gators. No ill will here. Best wishes to him going forward.

    GO GATORS!!!!

Seems like fans value Trent way more than his production would indicate, and certainly in contradiction of the coaches if playing time is an indication. None may be true, but maybe he just wasn’t good, practiced poorly, made big mental errors or was a poor teammate? All seem more plausible than coaches not playing him out of stupidity or spite.

Wish the kid well but not lamenting his departure. Maybe folks care more b/c he is a local kid.

I liked him and was hoping to see him more. But, I knew he was heading elsewhere when his brother decommitted. Wouldn't be surprised to see them both in Starkville. Congrats to Whit for leaving with a valuable UF degree.

My only knock on him was that he should have finished the season. He probably would have gotten a lot of opportunity during bowl season.

Maybe it's a thing where if he leaves now that's an extra spot for early signing day. If he stays for bowl season then someone would have to wait until Feb to sign.

I don't think that matters now with the annual signing limit waived this year. We won't have to be under the 85-scholarship limit until much later. He's more likely trying to fit into a spot on the his transfer target team before opportunities close. I am a fan of finishing what you start in life, though. He should have stayed through the bowl game.

We need good players, though. Especially at WR. I wish him well, but it's definitely a loss for us.

Respectfully, maybe. My guess is he's tumbling down the roster and has already expressed his future plans. I think there is a higher probability the staff would rather play up-and-comers vs him and prepare them for the future.

I personally thought he was very clutch. If we needed a first down you just needed to toss it in his direction. But what transpiered in the locker room, what initiated his demise isn't completely clear. I assume his brother went elsewhere because he knew exactly what was going on. My guess is his younger brother learned of Trents struggles and decided to go elsewhere knowing he'd be leaving. Some speculate Trent based his decision on Creeds change in heart.

I assume the truth will emerge one day from the bowels of the locker room; or not.

I guess at this stage I am willing to accept that Napier's choices are based on much more data then we are privy too. That being said, I have no choice but to acquiesce to the changes and have faith they are for a very good reason. If we had a 'shoulder shrug-head tilt' emoticon I'd use it.

Note: How do you get rid of one of your best defenders in Cox, and immediately improve on defense? It appears dissention in the troops will not be tolerated. Team players only need apply.

Best of luck to Trent and Creed.

    Go Gators.

A possession receiver who can get open is a "nice to have".
A possession receiver who can get open and out race everyone down the field is a "must have".

Your position is that because we had two outstanding WRs once that Whittemore should be that level. Who else on our team is feared... Pearsall? To put him behind Pearsall might not have been the best move for Whittemore, although from a coaching perspective it's good because it projects depth. But also in that comparison it's not apples to apples because they played different positions. By that comparison our TEs are below par(by far) and our slot receivers are meh. Whittemore did not make mistakes, drop balls, or to our knowledge break team rules. He was often targeted under the last staff and he caught his share. Maybe most of our receivers need to transfer.

I like what I've read from other posters. It is peculiar that he didn't see action somewhere else on the field with Pearsall. I'm glad Whittemore is transferring so that we can see him succeed or find himself in the same position elsewhere. I believe he will succeed.

This right here. Decent hands, but a bit slow and can't create separation. Trask probably could have probably hit him with the ball more. But AR is still working on the accuracy thing so it's not a good combo.
I think the whole Whittemore family soured on UF since Trent hasn't been getting snaps. Oh well. Next man up.

Seems like a lot of unwarranted speculation.
Maybe some favor him because he is a local kid, but not me, I dont live anywhere near Gville. Just going off what I saw on the field. Going from a reliable backup to never seeing the field is curious.

I think the "local kid" is a much bigger factor for AR, especially last year when he was the backup.
