As the season winds down, plenty to think about: SEC: UT beats UGA and wins out to the SECCG Bama wins out to the SECCG UGAs only loss is to UT Bama beats UT in the SECCG How many SEC teams get into the 4 team playoff? Obviously the Buck Nuts, TCU and Clemson all merit serious consideration if they go unbeaten. Thoughts??
Interesting, and what does the committee think about Oregon if the win out and look much better than their game one against UGA... and they go on the win the PAC-12?
Well obviously Georgia is out in this scenario. No sec ship bid and a loss. Without beating the other 2 in question (bama&UT)
The SEC champ plus the 3 undefeated conference champs get in. So only 1 SEC team. If one of those undefeated looses then UT if they lose to Bama in the SEC cg.
I read an article that claims the BCS formula was used and if the poll was released now would be: LegHumpers tosu UcheaT MeatChicken Clemson Alabama TCU Oregon USC Ole Miss UCLA Hard to believe they would pick 2-SEC and 2-Big Whatever though. A lot depends on other conferences. Either tosu or MeatChicken are in if they win out or, most likely, win the Big Whatever. Clemson is in by winning the ACC unless they lose before the end of the season. TCU could be a wrench in the SEC machine of getting 2 teams in . . . but still have games at Texas at Baylor and against Iowa State. Hard to see them winning-out. Oregon or UCLA or USC would likely get a nod ahead of a non SEC champion, I think. Ole Miss or Alabama will be knocked out this Saturday (unless they win the SECCG). What I think (barring major upsets) will be: SECCG Winner Big Whatever Winner PAC-12 Winner ACC Winner or Big-12 Winner (Highest ranked) I agree with what has been said so far and interested in what others think.
Tough calls. I believe winning a conference championship should mean something. I also like the idea of the BEST 4 playing. I liked the idea of expanding to 8, not so much the expansion to 12.
A little surprised, they have UT in the #1 slot, and Georgia #3. Obviously the winner of that game will be #1 next week. College Football Playoff Rankings: Tennessee, Ohio State, Georgia, Clemson open 1-4 in top 25
True. I would prefer ranking not come out until like the 4 week. Too many teams ranked high and drop like rocks. Then teams get credit for beating a preseason top 5 like ND who isn’t anywhere near that. After 4 weeks the sample size is there to make and educated ranking at that point.
Perhaps the rigors of this season, combined with the incoming recruiting class and transfers, and of course the experiences of SEC football by the staff will propel UF to future, better success, on the field in 23. At least in terms of wins and losses. I think it will. .
As of now top 4. UGA OSU Mich TCU OSU Michigan play each other so Oregon had a chance to slip in if they win the Pac12
