Derrick brooks is up there as well unless he's done something I'm not aware of.

Forgot about that. I should give you a 'come on man' for making me like THREE fsu players. Already feel dirty as is.

People can be skilled in their work, educated and not necessarily wise. I’ll stay on the positive side of this thread and say I’d be happy to have the Rolles as neighbors.

In my day the kids that went to FSU were pretty damn average (intellectually). My kids went to UF but some of their really good and pretty damn smart kids went to FSU. Like UF (not sure I'd get in today) the FSU kids today don't seem as dim as we were (but we were way better football fans).

I'm not down on FSU students or players. Sure, they have bad apples (winston) like we do (hernandez). I always hated Bowden's pious holier than though image while really running a "boys will be boys" camp. Add Andrews and that staff was rotten. Then you got the Tallahassee PD hiding evidence, covering up. Top it with an administration that governed University academics like Sergeant Schulz ("I know nothing" for you newbies). The institutions were rotten and may still be (Thrasher was a joke but their new President is not).

I'm with you on the institutions and always will be. Different take on the kids. Damn, I'm getting old and weak. But I do celebrate an FSU loss "like an idiot" (wife's words).

This does not change my dislike of FSU one iota. Hell, Renegade may be perfectly wonderful horse, but I dislike the program and root against it.

  6. I don’t care if Mother Theresa played football at FSU and won the Heisman. I would still not root for her, except on Sundays immediately before church. I will always dislike FSU.

That is a great accomplishment! I think he is a good person and if I recall missed a game for a Rhodes Scholar interview.

I still would rather have a UF grad working on my brain than an FSU grad.

It was obvious Myron Rolle was going to do big things with his life starting on day 1.

Why he chose FSU is a mystery given his later and very wise academic choices. That being said his undergrad clearly didn't slow him down.

I've always assumed it was a PR move by their then president. Rolle specifically cited the fsu medical school as the reason he went there. It was a knock on the other schools and a PR move for the then new program. How often does a university president involve themselves with an athletic recruitment?

Gary Rolle was drafted by Denver I am pretty sure (wanted him to play there with Nattiel), but he went to med school instead. Still practicing as orthoped.

I know you were talking about Myron, just wanted to mention. I took Biochemistry with him his first year of med school - it was split with med and vet students (same class). I spoke with him a few years ago and he still looked like he could play! He single handedly won the game for the med students against our vet school flag football team. He was lightning fast.

Funny story....I played against Gary Rolle's Med school Flag team. They beat us because he ran down our fastest guy who had just intercepted the ball and had nothing but green ahead of him for the game clinching TD.
