They’re screwing over the rest of the world and they're far from our friends. The sooner we can transition to domestic energy sources that are not sold on the international market the better. Even producing more oil will never make up reductions OPEC makes on a whim and we don’t have a way to stop domestic oil companies from charging the global commodity rates.

what isn't reported in your piece but is elsewhere is that many OPEC+ countries are not meeting their current quota and this cut will just bring those countries quota down to their actual ability to produce. Spare quota is a bragging thing in the ME as many can't produce what they claim they can after years of lack of investment in new exploration

    export limitations?

energy department is floating limiting refined product exports. for or against? how do you tell EU to not buy Russian energy and then limit what you are willing to sell them

U.S. oil groups urge Biden to take fuel export ban off table -letter | Reuters

The largest U.S. oil trade groups said on Tuesday that they have "significant concerns" that the Biden administration is considering limiting fuel exports to lower consumer prices and urged top officials to take the option off the table, according to a letter seen by Reuters.

The joint letter from the American Petroleum Institute and the American Fuel and Petrochemical Manufactures to Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm represents the latest volley in a clash between the oil industry and the Biden administration over high energy prices.
    ........................
In August, Granholm sent a letter to U.S. refining companies urging them to focus more on building domestic inventories of gasoline and diesel, and less on exports. She warned that if they did not, the administration would need to consider "emergency measures," but offered no specifics.

On Friday, Granholm and top White House officials repeated that warning in a hastily called virtual meeting about energy prices. White House officials have said restrictions on energy exports are not being considered "at this time," but that they have not been ruled out entirely.

There is a whole lot of ignorance going on in this thread about the timing. DeSantis is all about the people of Florida and set this date months ago stating that spring and summer months are full of out of state tourists and he wanted the people of Florida to be the ones who got this benefit not all of the out of staters. Please educate yourselves before just simply bashing DeSantis. What he did makes perfect sense for the people of the great state of Florida.

So there are no Floridians in Florida during the summer months? Just tourists?

I've always found threads like these interesting - Trump, Biden, whomever is in charge. Why is it their fault? What am I missing?

Surely gas prices are pretty much just because of this: It's a cartel.

I will take it and I am glad FL doesn't have insane gas prices like they do in some states up north and out west but this 25 cents isn't something I give much political credit for just like Biden deserved any for draining the emergency reserves to try and help the Dems during the mid-terms.
