Gators observations: QB room shows precision, Ricky Pearsall produces in win over Eagles

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — With scoreboard drama nonexistent, Florida’s bashing of Eastern Washington drew its suspense from actual twists and turns. As in twisted knees and turned ankles.

Anthony Richardson was crumpled by a low-hitting blitzer, leading to some anxious moments inside the medical tent. Top rusher Montrell Johnson required assistance from trainers after a third-quarter carry left him hobbling.

Ultimately, both players returned to action and the Gators got back to their winning ways in a 52-17 victory over FCS opponent Eastern Washington in a Sunday game postponed 24 hours by Hurricane Ian.

“Sometimes the opponent doesn’t matter,” Florida coach Billy Napier said. “It’s about your urgency, your focus, your intensity. I thought our detail was better. We threw and caught the ball in practice this week better.

I saw on YouTube over the summer while at ASU Pearsall completed a reverse pass for a TD. Would love to see that tried vs Uga or fsu.

Yea. Trent was a pretty good HS QB, but nowhere near the WB his little bro’ is. IMO, Creed is the best QB in the Gators’ ‘23 class.

Is he good enough to play QB for fla? He will be a big time slot WR for us and run jet sweeps and maybe some wildcat.
I like him as a player

Pearsall would be fire returning kicks and punts.

We had this walk on kid that was super fast and small, I wonder if he's available. Maybe he got cut. He had great hands too. Small people are better for this kick off and punt return stuff IMHO. Either that or let the ball bounce and roll to a stop! o_O

I guess you don't put your prime guys on KO and P return cuz they could get their arses clocked.

It's funny, in HS the best kids do absolutely everything. Kick offs, punt returns, receiver, defense, offense.

    Go Gators.:)

I remember when Meyer had Bubba Caldwell returning kicks and he got his leg broken in September against Tennessee!

I'd like to see Caleb Douglas get a shot there. Hate to see key cogs of the offense returning kicks.
