I am a little paranoid but I always thought he meant to take out Pitts and his hit was intentional in our 20 game.
To refresh pitts was just killing UGA up to that point, and we know how dirty Smart is and how much he hates us. I wouldn’t put it past him.
It did work and pitts was out a while because of it.

He lowered his head several steps before plowing into Pitts... he'll never live down that dirty play. But... I still don't wish him any injury like a broken leg.

I never root for any physical harm to any player, paid or otherwise. Call it karma or just fate but life can take some serious hard turns in the blink of an eye. He'll have some time now to think about lots of things.

I have watched that play quite a few times, and I am still not convinced it was a dirty hit.

Even Gene Steratore didn't believe it was intentional. Pitts ducks/shifts his position to prepare for contact...if Pitts doesn't drop his helmet, Cine hits him square in the numbers (and almost certainly with his shoulder). Watch 0:36-0:39 in the video above, its pretty obvious. You can even slow down the replay speed, watch how much Pitts adjusts for contact.

Real time, in the full speed of the game, I believe 100% he was trying to make a legit tackle.

Right. Go back and watch the game, and notice how Pitts was massacring you guys. Just a man among boys.
He was embarrassing the vaunted UGA defense, and of course that embarrassed the vaunted architect of that defense- one Kirby Smart.
Now listen to the leaked audio of Smart at halftime of last year's game. How much he hates us.
I always thought many (most?) coaches were employees- more doing a job than getting into the emotional part of the game.
Even Spurrier- who loved the Gators- said his halftime speeches were very calm and collected. More like an engineer fixing a problem.
But Smart was almost unglued in his hatred of us. Actually- he WAS unglued.

So put 2 and 2 together. A player mercilessly embarrassing a coach who had a lot of pride and who hates, hates, HATES the opposition.
And that coach's penchant for defense and physical play.
Then you have the hit- which took pitts out for many games.

    It's not a far leap.

It looked intentional then and it still looks intentional now. Cine almost knocked himself out too. I never want someone to get hurt seriously, but players are trying to hurt people, most of the time they're not trying to permanently maim people. :confused:Sometimes they get ejected for their efforts.

There seems to be a fine line based on the pre-hit details. I thought Boones hit on Levy was phreaking brutal and was very surprised that wasn't considered targeting. But I'm on my couch screaming and watching the TV. People are paid folding $ to figure this stuff out real time.

    Go Gators.:)

No, it's a Frontier flight across the continental US with three connections.

Holy hell, where do you guys come up with some of this stuff? I knew Georgia & Kirby Smart were in the heads of a lot of Florida fans, but this really takes it to an extreme. Smart hates Florida no less than Spurrier hated Georgia, I don't think this is really a surprise to any fan. But this idea that Smart is encouraging players to try and permanently injure other players is not only completely asinine and without merit, but borders on delusional.

Now, I am not naive enough to think players don't take things personally on the field, and will seek ways to settle differences within the confines of the game. But this wasn't a hit on a guy out of bounds, a blindside block on a guy 15 yards behind the play, or even popping a punt returner on a fair catch. Trask laid the ball in high, forcing Pitts to extend up on a crossing route across the middle of the field....one of the most dangerous plays for a receiver. 6'6" & 245 vs 6'1" & 200 lbs at full speed is always going to be hazardous and unpredictable. It was just a solid hit on a guy playing a vicious, violent game. Period.

Regardless, anyone who thinks that hit was intentionally dirty is watching a different video than the one I posted, and probably also thinks the Wyndham hit on Tebow was dirty. Pitts adjusting his body for the hit is what put his head/helmet into play, otherwise Cine hits him in the chest. The video is right there to watch, slow it down to 25% speed and it becomes clear as day.

It’s targeting because the player led with his helmet against a defenseless player. Where he hits him - head or square in the chest - is irrelevant. He still gets ejected and still damn near broke his own neck.

I’ve always tried to respect my opponent in the athletic arena and in life in general. Somehow you don’t make that easy to do.
You made the snide remark about Spurrier’s exit at South Carolina on another thread. It’s obvious to me you are a first class Gator Hater. Go away gafan. Go away.

Listen to Steratore, and watch the video in slow motion....Cine was trying to lead with the shoulder, but the adjustment of Pitts changed the position just enough to alter contact. It's literally right there in the video, with commentary stating as much by a 15+ year official with the NFL.

If this had been a Jaylen Watkins hit on Kelvin Benjamin, Florida fans wouldn't even bat an eye...but because a Georgia player is involved, there has to be something unsporting.
