Mizzou came out with nothing to lose. In the 4th qtr when they needed a coupl of first downs to win the game, their buttholes got tight and they came back to earth. They blew their loads last week and hopefully Georgia beats them again this week.

Nah. You can never overlook Georgia, being a rivalry game.

No, but that seems like a coaching issue to me. If you can’t replace talent with top10 classes…well I guess you better recruit top3 classes

I was finally able to watch the Georgia game this morning, watching ESPN gamecast updates last night really did no justice. Missouri called a perfect defensive game for almost 3 quarters. They kept everything in front of them, and the lack of any serious downfield threat never really forced Missouri to play safeties/corners deep. This took away the slants, short crossing routes, underneath screens, and short passes to RB's out of the backfield. A lot of these plays have been Georgia's go-to calls, and Bennett's inaccuracy issues early in the game put them in a hole. The two turnovers were also huge.

Offensively, Missouri spent too much time on overcomplicated, long & drawn out "cute" plays. They had a decent running game at times, and had gotten it back working in the 4th quarter. They were able to move the ball, so what did they do down 26-22 with 4 mins to play? Three straight incomplete passes, and forced to punt....they never saw the ball again.

I know it sounds homerish, but Georgia didn't play flat-out terribly...they were mostly hamstrung by the two turnovers and poor execution the first 30 minutes. Defense had a couple of miscues, but only gave up one TD (and 5 FG's). Stark running down the guy at the 1 yard line was HUGE, Missouri only left with 3 pts.

Kudos to Missouri, defense played their hearts out, and the lineman/FG kicker was perfect....hard to believe this kid missed a chip shot FG against Auburn.

Napier inherited more than that. I would say our OL is solid, just lacks depth. He also inherited a QB that a lot on this board called “transcendent” and some decent talent throughout the roster.

  10. Mizzou schemed around their strengths and somewhat hid their weaknesses. Scheme alone cannot beat UGAG—it takes a little more talent and perhaps some luck. Florida needs to do the same thing for the remainder of its schedule. I would be happy with almost beating Georgia if that meant the team were progressing. Obviously I would be happier if we got the upset. For now I will hope to go 1-2 in October with an outside shot at 2-1.

Absolutely correct. Which explains why teams like Clemson can sneak in there. There classes are good, around 7 -10, but they have had quality, stable coaching. I think if we can get consistently into that range, we can get past the UGAG hump. Unfortunately Bama has the coaching AND the classes.

Seriously great post and analysis. I wish this board had more of this kind of stuff.
I didn't watch the game (Thanks Dish and Disney!) so I really appreciated this.

I don't know if it means Missouri is good or georgia had that "top ranked scare" that most top teams have once or twice a season. Is there any team from here with which we won't have our hands full?

Two weeks in a row that uga has failed to look invincible. Of course they will bring their " A" game to jax.

Yeah, but at least Kirby Smart was seemingly honest about it after the game... Said it's tough going on the road in the SEC, and that any team can win on a good day - paraphrased him on it. He did sound almost complimentary towards Missouri.

We have a scrappy team coming to Gainesville this coming weekend. We had better be ready for them.

That and their confidence in the track record they have with us makes this a very difficult game.

The year that several key starters returned instead of going to the NFL marked the beginning of uga's ascendence imho.

And.............it really is a crucial game for UF to get a "W" and build confidence, given the upcoming stretch. Fighting for a bowl game and this is a win we desperately need.

Hopefully Mizzou shot a bolt against UGA and will be suseptible...........

One thing for sure, this is not Eastern Washington.

I do feel that we have a good chance, our offense seems to be improving and Mizzou's offense is not super impressive outside their FG kicker.
