It's going to interesting to see how many recruits/players Billy and company sign this year, a year which has NO 25 recruit limit.

If there were no 85 scholarship limit in place we could sign 30 players this year, IMHO. The hard part will be the selection of players that the coaches want to sign. We have needs, but sometimes the talent at other positions make that hard to stick to... Like this year is LOADED with DL players, yet we need at least two good/great offensive tackles...

I say... load up on DL while the gettin' is good.

We could stash pwo’s and not have them on the 85. I think some teams will do exactly that.

It’s as it should be. We are hovering around top 10 which should be the minimum for gators

Normally true, but it’s damn impressive for a head coach in his first P5 gig with a team that went 6-7 last season.

That’s just what’s got to be done if he is to be successful. Great job but that’s what he’s sup to do.

True, but that is what every coach is supposed to do. Few of them do it.

    Hi Wanne -
Of course you are 100% correct. And I would refer you to Will Miles / read and reaction podcast.

Not to spoil the recent mojo, but as I was lamenting a couple of months ago, one of the mountains the Gators need to climb is
the fact that the SEC can have 4, 5 or even 6 teams in the top 10 or 12, recruiting rankings. That speaks for itself.

Will brings up the fact that UF is around a 91.25, which compared to the rest of the country is very good, but AVERAGE as compared to the top 6 of the SEC. Bama and UGA setting really high standards.

Will's point is - We need the talent! The Mullins experiment of "superior coaching" will overcome the talent gap..........didn't work. Nuff said on that.

UF needs to crack into that 92.25 - 92.5 to get to 3rd of 4th in the SEC. Then talent is pretty close and perhaps coaching DOES make the difference. Obviously the coming year will give us the first test case of CBN's ability to "coach em up" in SEC play.

Now having said that, "and I really don't like dissing past UF coaches" Mullen left us in a mess and a hole.

Will Miles did say a whole lot of positives were happening, the new facility is great and this staff appears to really have a great plan.

But for UF to really return to prominance we just have to start winning the in state, and national, recruiting battles for those top 50 guys, high 4 and 5 stars, which, to date, we have none of, in this current class.

Thats why McClain is so important. CBN and staff has made great strides, but if we want to get out of treading (2nd tier) SEC water we need one more jump in recruiting.

Personally, I think CBN will do it, but I think the 2nd year "Bump", into the recruiting stratosphere, we were all hoping for, is more likely to happen next recruiting cycle, not this one.

    Go Gators!

If a leak changes a recruit’s decision, I question their desire and commitment to the school as well their general maturity level. Keep in mind that I said question, not pass judgement upon. That said, shame on any adult staffer or coach who leaks information.

I believe that next year we will remain in the top 5 spot on recruiting sites. It will be a return to our glorious past in recruiting top football talent.

I thought it was a site and not a coach? Recruiting sites are run by some jealous haters from other teams, so... you would expect this kind of BS to seep though every now and then, unfortunately.

yeah I agree Rick, as long as we play up to, and even above our potential this season. Gotta get it done on the field too. Less than 9 wins and we're still under the radar for a lot of these kids. We need to make a bit of a splash this season. Beating Utah would be a great way to start the season. Beating Georgia would mean a lot more. Go Gators

I don't expect us to lose often this year, and even though Utah is a great team they are beatable.

But... I do think that even Kirby Smart found a way to recruit top talent while not playing "championship" caliber football... heck they even sucked at the start of his coaching career, at UGA. But we know why he recruited well... it was divulged to me while I was on our insider's board here in the Den. $$$$ yep, but I know that we will not use that 'pay-to-play' tactic to get top recruits, so we might have to win right away to even the playing field so to speak on our early recruiting.

In the end recruiting the right way might mean that we have to win to get the top talent and that's okay by me. I believe we can and will win early and that Napier's plan will work in the SEC... Anyone that question's Napier, a man that has worked for Dabo and Nick, and his ability to coach up an winning team/program are uninformed and naive. He's a born winner.

Napier proved that he knows what it takes to win... how to build a winning program... how to get the right men for the proved he knows how to bet the right men for the job, to be his assistant coaching staff... all that it takes to build a winning successful football program from the ground up... the support people in all aspects of a winning football program. He's off to a great start and now all we need to see is the final product on the field... can't wait.

I feel confident that he can win early, and we will be in the top 5 in recruiting for a long, long time.

That’s about it in a nutshell. Maybe you’re has done exactly what he was hired to do but he is only halfway there. Can he coach on the field and can he break into those top 50 players. The top 50 players may be out of his control however. They are there for the taking now if we got the paycheck to give them
