The suspense is killing me. If he’s known for over a month and is conf in his decision, spit it out already.

They have. IMO he would pick UF if we matched the number, just can't imagine we would go that high for a RB

...Especially not with the RB room we have now. I do wonder why he hasn't committed yet, though. I guess it's possible the "street" could be wrong. Who knows?

Recruiting and distance are always interesting as ESD approaches. A young player already on campus has a breakout year and suddenly early playing time looks different. They take another highly regarded player at your position in the same class and suddenly things look different A new girlfriend or realizing family won’t be able to watch you play each week and can cause a change of mind. NIL might help a family relocate, as that is what Bama did in the past. A few players told Marc th loneliest time was when their teammates all went home for the weekend as they lived nearby and they remained on campus as too far to travel for a weekend.

Now with the pay for play NIL I think if we viewed the building of our team through recruiting via the lens of building an NFL team, we would be very satisfied with the business decisions made by our program in not overpaying for a position, like overpaying a rb when the production is at wr or like paying 1st round OT money for someone whose measurables tells you he is a 2nd round OG.

Do you or sources know what is the number Texas offered?

And btw, aren't we going to have to "pay up" once in a while to get an elite? Unless what, we build an OL and blocking scheme any pretty good back can run behind? But even then, don't the blocking pieces(OL, TE, WRs) cost money too? I appreciate that our staff is not acting with a financial exuberance which cannot be sustained. But, OTOH ....

Exactly. And I would also add there will be the baseball version of moneyball as teams with smaller bankrolls trying to find value. Lots of moving parts as everyone finds their way.

The rumor is $1M a year....no idea if that's totally accurate or more importantly how the deal is put together.
I think UF is conscious of, and working around several factors. Funds are not unlimited, "overpaying" can disrupt the locker room, taking care of guys already in the locker romm is critical. IMO UF will pay if they see the value, but will walk if the numbers don't work. Is Baxter worth that number if you can get Webb and a #2 RB combined for much less?

I have an opinion on this Die, I believe that UF will get a bit more into the "bidding" game the last couple of weeks prior to early signing day, "holding the cards close to the vest" as they say. I could be totally wrong of course, because I have no sources, but given events of the last 4 - 6 weeks, it seems like a possible strategy.
