Dj Lagway 2024 5* qb from Texas is high on Florida because he has the opportunity to play baseball as well.

DJ also plays basketball at his high school. You can see it in his footwork in the pocket.

Have you watched his film... He should stick to basketball. 80% of his football QB highlights are him running the ball. The other 20% are him throwing 8-12 yard slants or dump passes.

No Thanks! Give me a 3 star that comes from a top passing HS program that throws it all over the field.

Simply checking his stats disproves that

This thread is a great candidate to evolve into a triscuits thread or any other great hi jacked thread theme.

Yeah he's averaging 11.5 yards per completion so more than a 1st down everytime he completes a pass. He rush half as many times as he dropped back and he only has thrown 6 total INT's in 3 seasons.

His basketball stats were not impressive. Best to wait for his junior year stats and clips before we start chasing three star prospects with strong arms. I doubt he earned that rating entirely on his running ability.

Exactly he runs 50% of the time he drops back for a pass. His scrambling ability in high school allows for easy throws to left open receivers. I don't see him reading defenses and going through progressions. He takes off running.
OHH Im Sorry.. But he is a 5 Star!!!

Give me a 4 star that can make ALL the throws and has been coached to read defenses and go through progressions. All Day.

Passing twice as much as running is not running 50% of the time.. There isn’t a lot of going through progressions though. It’s usually the first receiver or runs in those clips. He’s got a ways to go until he has to play sec ball though.

1st off your math is impeccable btw. Lol

You must not have been a big fan of Tim Tebow. Because he ran more then DJ. Made a career off of getting easy throws due to his ability to run And I don't have to mention the numerous college records he broke as a QB.

Have you ever looked at Lamar Jacksons HS stats? His run/pass ratio is way worse than DJ. Jackson also competed less then 50% of his completions. (47%) did i mention he went on to become the NFL's youngest ever to win the MVP. That was the year he rushed for more yards than any QB ever.

Hell Anthony Richardsons stats resemble DJ's too. Except AR rushed more. Yiu have any issues with Richardson

Your logic is flawed as High school teams will a majority of the times rely on the QB's athletic abilities to make play and get a W. Its not till they get to college that they really start to hone their skills in the more prototypical way. (See L. Jackson)

Kid is big fast and has a strong arm. He is only 16 or 17 in a lot of his high clips. I think I’ll let Napier.. who has met with him, seen him in camp and I assume has a much better understanding of what Qb needs in his system… make the final call verses listening to some people on a message board who aren’t real sure the difference between 50 percent of the time and 33 percent of the time.

Yep, he's a legit threat to run, but he has a quick release and a rocket arm that his high school team doesn't utilize enough, IMHO, because they don't have to. He throws on the run well and accurately, and he looks downfield for the long ball when he scrambles. I want this QB for damn sure...

Just finished watching it. Great video and gives us a glimpse of how our recruiting is. Lagway would be a huge get.
