Both were equally deplorable comments, let's call it what it is.

I think I made it quite clear that the accident itself was tragic. At least 1 innocent person lost their life (out of 4 total). That was actually my original point with saying it would have been better if she got drunk and crashed herself, sparing the other lives.

I just have zero sympathy for team treason and I’m not going to pretend otherwise.

War’s comments celebrating her death were simply ugly in my opinion. As were 51’s comments about Till.

I don’t think there’s a lot of basis for the moral condemnability of an identical action to depend entirely on what other people happen to do.

By way of example, it would seem absurd to say “good thing none of those pussyhat people went inside, or else Jim McGovern might have accidentally become an irredeemable traitor who is no better than a member of the Russian Duma.”

This is second time you mentioned the Hindi idea of Karma ... I guess if you can do that, I'll say it was God's choice to make the world a better place. Thank God!

I did not think they could go where they did on this one. I guess I should not be surprised. But wow they showed a lot on this thread. Really sad and unfortunate to see.

Sorry, but she was an enemy of democracy trying to destroy it from within. I feel the same way about her death as I do when America drones a terrorist. We shouldn't forget how awful of a person she was just because she died.

Kinda giving off that Fred Phelps vibe here.

Because nothing says tolerant and open-minded like the Westboro Baptist Church!

Actually I’d say that has everything to do with it, particularly considering these Jan 2021 votes happened with the benefit of hindsight, meaning they saw the tangible results of their horseshit first hand and still stuck together as seditionists.

The only slight sliver of salvation for this woman in my view, is the possibility she actually believed the Big Lie. That was one of the choices in “delusional or corrupt”. But how many of them disavowed it? Did she? I mostly assume the politicians involved in that fall on the corrupt side of the ledger with the rioters (the pawns) falling under delusional. I don’t preclude the notion there may be some crossover.

This is where we are at as a society. This never ending tit for tat is why I have little hope modern politics will ever be productive again. Yes both comments were deplorable but is that the standard now? We let the emotional vitriol set the bar for how we communicate?

I'm no Saint and I'm guilty of having the same emotional reactions and thoughts but over the years I have learned not to give in to that emotion. Arguments never get quelled by shouting back. Solutions never happen by stooping to the opposition's level. It's one of the hardest things sometimes but emotional restraint might be the most lacking characteristic of today's society.

This is not directed at you specifically just a general opinion.

Don't most Christians say what most of humanity would call an early/tragic death is still part of 'God's plan?'

Do you feel the same way about those that voted against or objected to certifying electoral votes in 2016? I think @GatorBen listed them in a post above.

They say ridiculous stuff like this all the time, like when a child dies from cancer or is tragically lost. “It was all part of gods plan, they’re in a better place now”.

But when god decides to take out a seditionist lying politician it wasn’t part of the plan and we should be ashamed for suggesting it was. Makes sense.

I don’t think they’re the standard. Both were called out for being well out of bounds

Hard to get worked up in any particular direction about someone you've never heard of until they died IMO. No one is shedding any actual tears, its all very performative on threads like this.
