He was effective during the fall. I felt his biggest problem earlier this season was facing batters ready to adjust to whatever pitching style they saw. TN and OU didn't fit that description. Not every opponent will be slow to adjust. I have know idea about VT, but I'd like to find out.

The Gators haven't had a lot of successful junk throwers that I remember. Seems like Rob Bonnano leaned that way. He certainly developed over four years.

Pettis will be up at bat when we resume.
Per radar it will rain here from 6-7:30. If true, we won’t resume until 8 or so.
Everyone is heading to the Wawa for subs and beer.
    Did I miss anything?

Is there any chance they could call this game?

Was the Purple Porpoise there when you were a student? I think it might have been at the tail end of your time at UF.

Now it is The Social. Way back when IIRC it was College Inn. It now smells a lot better. And the floor isn't sticky.

I think that Salty Dog is still around. Old school dive bar like the Red Lion on south 13th. I miss that place.

This makes five hot days in the sun this season and the first two were under 85. The shade seats were an extra 50 bucks so not many people couldn't afford them. I purposely chose low seats to get any available sun during Feb, Mar and early Apr games. The shade areas were badly frigid for many more hours than the sun seats were unbearably hot. I assume the most strident complaints about shade, coaching, lineups and such are from fans who catch a few games on TV. Guidance from ESPN/SECN college bsb announcers seldom improves one's understanding of the game.

    Ah, the Red Lion.

Many a night in Spring 1979 in that place with my pledge classmates and brothers. Ate my first pickled egg there.

Now I am hearing thunder in the distance. We could have some lightning in other areas the rest of the night and never have anything close to the stadium. Does not matter so I dont see this thing starting again until much later when all the afternoon storms are rained out and they have not yet arrived .

Both games yesterday had official attendance of about 3500. The Friday and Saturday Gator games were about 5500. Normally, attendance includes everyone who bought tickets. These figures are bottoms in seats.

Gators need to work to expand bsb attendance, rather than simply provide an elite product.

Of course I mean the one on the north side of University Ave west of 13th and not the one that was briefly on the south side of University Ave east of 13th.

By 1979 I was in my second year working as a foliage grower in Apopka. I lived in Lake Jem so would stop at Toby's Home Cooking in Zellwood on 441 for a quick lunch.

Gatorville in the distant rear view mirror.....

We got almost as much as we could from Neely before the weather delay.

He was awesome just like he was a few games ago.

We have had some surprising freshman arms. Coppola was one we thought would be great, but he was injured but looked great early on. Neely was one guy that I thought could be good and he has surpassed my expectations for a freshman. And Finnvold has been a total surprise. I never expected to see a freahman pitch like an old MLB guy.

In 2015, I stayed up nearly all night following the CWS while living in London. When I traveled to the Middle East, I used to leave the radio call on my phone and I would listen/sleep.
