Whataboutism - I never knew what that was until you’re friends here showed me what it meant.

As to condemning DeSantis, nope, but he did show everyone in the state that you are free to make your own choices, be it individuals or entities but you are not free of the consequences of those decisions.

As to businesses not wanting to move to Florida because of this - nonsense. I own two business in NC and if I get the opportunity, I’ll move them here in a heartbeat.

One of my suppliers just relocated from NY to Florida early this month because of the pro-business attitude here.

Two police officers that I know just moved from MI to FL this year.

I read about lots of people and businesses moving to Florida, funny I don’t seem to read of any trying to move out.

You are saying that the government should create consequences for speech criticizing them?

No offense, but I can't tell what's that supposed to mean. The question is whether DeSantis using the power of government to punish a business that speaks out against him is fascism or not. It has nothing to do with Christian or grandmothers. Can you answer that?

Your acceptance of government interference of private business is highly selective. The government fined, or attempted to fine, a 72 yo grandmother out of business and you had no objection. The government took away a privilege from a MNC and its the end of democracy. Also, calling everything you don't like fascist is stupid. Monarchs as well as communists have use the power of government to intimidate ordinary citizens.

Ok, so you refuse to discuss DeSantis. Your choice I suppose.
But what’s the grandmother case that you think is so important?

This is a classic bad faith argument. Calling something fascist is not the equivalent of calling everything that you don't like fascist. I dislike certain immigration and drug laws. However, they are not fascist.

What makes the claim of fascism stick here is the perspective of corporatism. Essentially, the viewpoint being espoused here is that a corporation is supposed to support the state, not oppose it. That is a central feature of the economic philosophy of fascism. When people talk about "consequences" of a corporation opposing the state, the notion is that the point of a corporation is to support the state, not to pursue other goals. This is different than communism (where the private corporation really shouldn't exist) or monarchy (where a monarch needs to decree that a corporation is allowed to exist).

In other words, you deflected to try to argue hypocrisy, failed in that quest, and then exposed yourself as a total hypocrite in the process. You and I are private citizens. We can impose consequences on other private citizens for their political speech (as long as we're not acting criminally). The government cannot do that. It's the very point of the First Amendment. Unlike you, I value constitutional rights.

"You progressives don't value freedoms, so why should I value them either?" Quite the take.

Corporations Stay Quiet On Abortion After Disney’s Disastrous Tangle With DeSantis

Corporations previously outspoken about hot-button social issues have stayed quiet on the likely overturning of Roe v. Wade after a dramatic fight between Disney and Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis over the company’s political activism.

“Do not take a stance you cannot reverse, especially when the decision is not final. This topic is a textbook ’50/50′ issue. Subjects that divide the country can sometimes be no-win situations for companies because regardless of what they do they will alienate at least 15 to 30 percent of their stakeholders,” Zeno told clients, according to Popular Information. “Do not assume that all of your employees, customers or investors share your view.

you seem to think this is a good thing...does it ever occur to you "gov can do no wrong" folks that the boot of big gov will find your throat?

Sorry, the “gov can do no wrong” folks are typically your side of the aisle, not mine.

As an owner of two businesses, I could never understand how a business would say something to alienate 1/2 their potential customer base. A businesses favorite color should be green, not red or blue.

Yes, DeSantis successfully used government force to silence those who he disagreed with. Absolutely un-American, yet far too many are celebrating this.

There’s no telling if they’re not saying anything because of what DeSantis is trying to do to Disney. But assuming it is, do you think that’s a good thing?

Can’t make that assumption, more likely they see what Disney’s share price has done and don’t want that devaluation to happen to them.

do you wanna know what your customers think about your goods/service? Do you want feedback? Most successful orgs don't just want it, they elicit it. & in many cases PAY 3rd parties to gather it.
