Only mentioned when the notion of paying players for their image/likeness was first gaining traction but never implemented.

Billy Napier wants an annual $20 million NIL slush fund just for football. I don't know what that would equate to for the basketball program, but it will be a lot.

I'm not a fan of all this shite either, but the one thing it's done for us is given us a seat at the table. There used to be an obvious divide, and completely unfair advantage, between those that paid players and those that didn't. Now if everyone is paying, then it will hopefully place more emphasis on the school and brand (and obviously how rich your alumni are) and we have a great brand.

Or I'm just being naive and/or trying to find a silver lining here. Overall, the NIL will benefit Gators sports, but might be at the cost of losing fans. At least it's out in the open now as Lurker said, we know this has been going on for over half a century (eg Wooden), but at least now we get to openly participate and hopefully level the playing field.

One thing I do know is if the NIL was around when i was a kid, I would have put a hell of a lot more focus on my athletic "career" than school. Both for good and bad.

That is how it was sold to us, but obviously is not what is taking place. There will be twelve seats in section 3 available soon if this garbage isn't fixed.

Somebody mentioned there would be a market correction eventually and I tend to agree. Right now it’s the opening phases of this thing and everyone is throwing stupid money at it. But let’s be honest-is having your company logo on the warm up shirt of the 3rd guy off the bench really bringing a return? At the end of the day I think the deal that we’re being made behind closed doors are just going to become more public (and I guess, legal).
