It's not a very wealthy state at all. No billionaires, seventh lowest per capita GDP in the US. The one super wealthy family I knew in Birmingham were all Ivy alum. (Dated their niece) Tried to talk SEC football at her debut in Mountainbrook. That went nowhere. The wealth that's in the state is very concentrated.

There are plenty of old multi-millionaires there and that's meat and potatoes.

There are also 100’s of thousand’s of rabid fans willing to mortgage their “domicile” (whatever it may be) to contribute something, anything they can, to help “their” team succeed.
People self identifying as Gator fans, while passionate when discussing “their” team, aren’t as willing to commit to 2nd mortgages. (I know it’s hyperbolic) Even UF fans who have season tickets… and are considered boosters, have been slow to embrace the Gator Collective.
Neither is a right or wrong approach but there is a distinct difference in our fan base and the ones of Alabama, Georgia, Teaxas A&M, honestly even Tennessee… and I’m not even going to bring up LSU... they have their own category.
I believe a least a portion of it is our lack of real success the last few years… Gator fans have been disappointed so much they are taking a wait and see approach, even the big monied boosters to a degree.
Coach Napier seems to be slowly overcoming that mindset, but 13 years of mediocre football builds up a pretty tall wall of doubt.

Story about rabid fans: While still working at the Athens, Georgia PO during the early 2000s, I received a call late on a Friday afternoon from a highly upset women that was trying desperately to locate UGA vs Alabama football tickets she had sent for her 2 kids that were attending UGA, through the US mail for Saturday's game in Alabama. She had already spoken to several other individuals at the Athens PO, and hadn't gotten much help from anyone to try to locate the priority package the tickets were sent in. Like I had mentioned earlier, she was very desperate at the point her and I spoke, as it was late friday afternoon, the game was being played the next day and her kids didn't have tickets to the game!

While she never stated anything overtly, she made very clear to me she was willing to go to any means necessary to solicit my help to locate tickets........ While getting address information from her, I discovered she had used a zip code intended exclusively for UGA dorms, the kids were living however in a apartment complex not associated with the dorms. On hunch I went to a container of miss sent mail, we received each day from the UGA mail room and located her package, called her to let her know and she once again made it clear to me she was willing to reciprocate my efforts for locating her package in any way I wanted........I thanked her and passed on her offer......the kids came to the PO to pickup the package.....I was still surprise what this woman via innuendo was willing to do, just to help locate football tickets!

Great opportunity to start early working out an NIL deal. HUDL clips are impressive for a sophomore. Excellent vision and pocket awareness. Gets the ball away quickly when he's pressured, often in tight windows. Beautiful touch and placement with deep balls. Impressive velocity. He has great escapability but not as fast or as slippery a runner as the two '23 prospects we're looking at. Hope he grows another inch or two.

This is early to get him on campus but he's had multiple visits since last summer, four or five of them between UM and fsu. Katie and the coaches just need to stay after him. Carlsbad is just south of Orange County along I-5. Always a lot of prospects in the Orange, LA and Ventura County corridor and plenty of places to land a Gulfstream.

The most athletic edge defenders are typically rail thin in high school. Jevon Kearse weighed 210 when he committed. It's easy enough to eye-ball a high school junior in person and have an idea how much weight he can gain in two or three more years. Whatever shortcomings Summerall has have nothing to do with his size. 6'5" 240-ish is plenty big enough to be a standup DE/OLB in college.

Very generous multi-millionaires when it comes to football. A lot of them seem to own automobile dealerships.

The guy my buddy captains a boat for owns most of the machinery ( Cranes and such) at many of the ports in the US. $7 mil boat and has no problem dropping 50k every weekend to fish tournaments. Dude is loaded and is a Bama fan.

That was right at 20 years ago, I would venture a guess that would put her right around 60 years old now or at least within a few years of 60………..know Imsayin?

In Sarasota at the PO there during the 80’s, where worked before transferring to the Athens PO. There was a woman that used to come in, that was the PR person for Sarasota blood bank. She was a complete match for one of the women playing instruments for the Robert Palmer video “Addicted to Love”. She’d come in and always ask where I was, apparently was fairly fond of me……I was in my late 20’s early 30’s at that point. Guys I worked with would always kid me about her…….I was however happily married, so never entertained thoughts on that beyond the guys teasing me about her……
