Social media is mostly unbearable. Gator fans get labeled as unreasonable but that's just people on social media in general. Just look at any video on home improvement, animal rescues, politics, sports etc etc. People think they're experts on everything. It's a shame Farrel even has to make a tweet like that Defending a young recruit. One comment noted that the same people slamming this kid as a recruit are pulling for AR to win a Heisman oblivious to the fact that AR was a 3 star when we first started recruiting him too..... Yes anonymous internet experts, I'm sure you know talent better than Napier...SMH
I have a hard time believing CBN would so publicly talk about the lack of depth and quality, and the need to get “SEC-caliber guys” in the door… and then offer and accept a commitment from TP… without being pretty certain of the talent and prospects he’s bringing with him to the ville. You have to think coach did some serious film study on the guy or sees something that can help this program continue to build towards a title. I also think the floodgates are gonna open in June/July with the high-end croots.
I like that this kid, with relatively no real offers, came in and earned it by performing, in person, for our HC. Kind of reminds me of how ol Trask did it.
Thank you. One thing about keyboards and social media under a fictitious name: easy to be brave. I hope this kid turns out to be an All American. Toney was a 3 star also. So was one or both of the Pounceys. Kyle was a 2 star. Most 5 stars turn out to be 3-4 stars. Some play like 6 stars. The stars mean little to me other than a potential future as a person who works for the site that gives other guys stars. Everything is a guess. Some folks act like they just came down from the mountain and God gave them a stone tablet with the the Ten Best Players in America written on it by the hand of God Himself.
Maybe he turns out to be a great player for us. The staff should have a good idea of their board and which consensus next-level WRs they have a good chance to sign. No? Seems like the type of player you land to round out a class for depth. The staff must believe he is going to be as good as anyone they intend to land. Too early to worry but feels like we are behind, again. Maybe some very good prospects are waiting to see how the team looks this season?
I don't understand the outrage. A couple of dopes (I spent about 30 minutes on Twitter) ..maybe 5-10 at most complain about Patterson, and suddenly a bunch of other dopes start absolutely tearing into the fan base, 90% of whom are not on twitter. "gator fans are idiots" all because of less than a baker's dozen of morons, some of whom are clearly not really gator fans. Twitter is a cesspool.
Just goes to show that there's a big difference between Gator Fans and "Gator Fans on Social Media." Everyone on social media whines and complains about something. That seems to be the whole purpose and function of it. Also, the nature of the social conversation media lends itself to posers trolling as fans in order to try to give a bad flavor to an opponent's fanbase. It only takes a few convincing attempts at that to poison the well. I have almost zero confidence in the truth of anything in social media. Reading it is pure entertainment. Even if it appears to have information about a recruit, there's nothing saying that information is truthful or accurate. It's just someone's thoughts that day, opinions, or hearsay. Sometimes it's even intentional misdirection. Makes sense to take it all with a grain of salt and enjoy it for what it's worth.
i like to use social media to whine and complain about ……… social media! I pretty much agree with tigator2019 re twitter.
"My sphere of humor does leak a bit of sarcasm at times" LOL! Sarcasm and self-deprecating humor are the best - when done in moderation. But to stay on point - there's no way that CBN, having entertained and evaluated hundreds of the best prospects in the land the last few weeks, would settle this early for a 3-star out of desperation because he feels at this point that there we're out of the running for better prospects. Doesn't make any sense at all. It's obvious to me that his and his staff's evaluation, coupled with Patterson's performance at camps, leads him to believe the Patterson is as good a prospect as any others out there.
