Three-star WR with offers from UMass, Liberty and North Texas. Recently offered, apparently.

I watched his HUDL. It says he is 6’3” and runs a 4.5. 247 says he is 6’2”. But Napier got to see him in person at the Orange and Blue game. So he knows his true height. Nonetheless, he has got a pretty good speed/size combo. And there are several clips of him catching screens and flashing some playmaking ability. His HUDL reminded me of the kind of plays Ardarius Stewart regularly made at Bama under Napier in the WR screen game.

So he only has one recorded 100 meter time for this track season and that was in Feb, when ran a 12.76 to finish 16th in that event. Ran regularly on the 4X100 team, with that teams best mark coming on March 30th, with a rather pedestrian time of 44.52 in as far as
high school times go. As a basketball player this past season he average 8.5 points a game, safe to say football is without a doubt his best sport. So he is not the burner, that so many have hope to see with this class, and without watching any tape on him yet, I will assume his skill comes with the ability to make plays once the ball is in his hands......a Toney type player perhaps?

That's the same impression I got. He's a clever, very shifty runner with the ball in his hands. Has a nice late burst. Didn't see anyone run him down unless they had an angle on him. Beat his man on deep routes a few times. Would have done that more if his QB had a stronger arm. Looks at least 6'2" but has long arms.

    Good pickup IMHO.

There must be a super secret dossier on this guy. Glad we could edge out Liberty, Massachusetts, and North Texas.

He did very well at the under Armour camp
A poorly coached kid who had no one to throw him the ball. That is why you have camps to see these kids against elite competition. A find by the Army I believe.

My speed increased a lot in 2 yrs from a soph to a sr. If he’s a 2023 kid, he has time to improve.

That 100 meter time can’t be right. No one would admit to a time that slow. That’s one, when asked, the response is “I didn’t hear my time.”

"2023 WR Tyree Patterson, Eustis (Fla.) High School"

"A great build at nearly 6'3", 180 pounds and consistent route-running to pair with a long stride, Patterson caught attention early on and only improved on the opinion thereafter. The build was reminiscent of a wing in basketball (yes, Patterson plays hoops for Eustis High) but the polish reflected a prospect who appears all in on one sport. Position coach and former NFL star Chris Chambers, like the SI staff, was surprised to learn Patterson had not breached the Power Five level on his scholarship offer list to date, especially after a 2021 season in which he averaged better than 20 yards per catch, broke the 1,000 yard barrier and scored 13 touchdowns in 10 games. Liberty, UMass and North Texas have offered while Florida State, Marshall and others have shown interest."

    Article from the Denver Post:

Patterson is the nephew of former Eustis and UCF standout Joe Burnett, who played in the NFL for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Patterson has yet to receive a UCF offer.

The recruiting process for the 6-foot-2, 182-pound Patterson has started slowly for a couple of reasons. He didn’t even play football after deciding to concentrate on basketball after his seventh-grade year. He’s also stuck in tiny Eustis, a Lake County school that does not receive much recruiting traffic.

“Me and my dad sat down after my 10th-grade year’s basketball season and he said he thought I should focus more on what I want to do in college, what I love the most,” Patterson said. “I chose football over basketball.”

It’s no surprise Patterson is opening the eyes of recruiters. He’s had two big seasons of football since returning to the game. In 18 games he has had 85 catches for 1,692 yards and 20 touchdowns and averages five catches for nearly 100 yards and a touchdown per game.

Gators offer Eustis WR Tyree Patterson, nephew of former UCF star Joe Burnett – The Denver Post

Napier compared him to Calvin Ridley. That is quite a comparison. Great take if Napier is spot on with the comparison.

On the surface this is honestly a bit of a head scratcher. He may indeed be a legitimate 4.5, but the 100 meter time listed for this year is a 12.76.
In fairness there could be reasons for that… without knowing the circumstances, I’ll pass on totally judging by that time… I will say if the time is a true reflection of his speed… it sure doesn’t translate to anything close to a 4.5 40.
Honestly his film doesn’t scream 4.5 but it also doesn’t show a 12.76 100 meters ( you can’t frame that as anything but slow, the top girls time in state is 11.37). I would be curious to see if he had any combine times, or if UF did any testing before the offer.
I suspect (don’t know) that his lack of offers is tied to the listed 100 meters time, especially if he doesn’t have combine times to counter with, his stats are excellent, and he has very good film.

He doesn’t have elite speed. But he finds plenty of space when he has the ball in his hands. His highlights would look better if his QB could get him the ball on time. There were quite a few highlights where he’s waiting on the ball.
