    Good.
Hopefully with some familiarity to the SEC, Jones will have a better year next season.

Wouldn't be surprised if he spends the offseason working on point guard skills.

His game fits the new system much better than the last one.

Is it true that a hand injury limited his effectiveness?

I’m guessing he’s one heck of a practice player

The prevailing line of thought is that Golden A) actually has an offensive system that he doesn't change every year. B). Said system would get Myreon better looks. C). That Golden thinks he can restore Myreon's confidence. Allegedly.

Can you elaborate on this? I sure hope you are right. Frankly, I'm hesitant to comment on this thread at all, but maybe you see something that can give cause for optimism.

our previous system, such as it was, was allegedly a dribble drive offense. The guards were supposed to take the ball to the paint, score if they were open, dish off they were collapsed on, and come back out if they couldn't beat their guy. That’s why appleby was the best and worst of our offense, he was the only guy who could take someone off the dribble and why he played over Jones.
We tried to go to more of a five out the last two years especially, but we left CC or JJ or Payne in the middle. So a main component of that offense was never going to work like it should -having all five out leaves the lane open for driving, leaving one in the paint or close to most of the time makes that much harder. And Myreon Jones was never a drive and dish guy regardless. His strength wasn’t athleticism but decision making.
The new offense is much more about decision making and “reading the defense” seeing what’s happening, the same as your teammates are and acting accordingly and collectively. That is more his strength. If he shoots a decent 3 point percentage this year, he will be an asset.
    But we will see.

Jones was a career 40% 3 point shooter coming into this year. He had a broken finger for part of the year which definitely hurt him and he never seemed to get in a groove afterwards. Once he found his shot again late in the season, teams played him tight and he didn't get a lot of room to shoot. I expect a big time bounce back year from Jones and glad he's coming back.

When Locke played after his freshman season, he looked sped up too much to remain effective shooting the ball. Jones looked sort of sped up but too many times he had the open shot and he just plain bricked his shots. Not rattled in and out but bricked. Not a good sign for a quality shooter.

But if he is mainly a spotup shooter in Golden's offense then I can see him getting his mojo back. But in the end I am not sure we have a plethora of options this year. And so, welcome back Myreon and let's make the last year memorable.

As long as Golden’s system does not involve recruiting guards with low shooting percentages and then chucking up a lot of 3’s, we should be fine.

Feels like this is ultimately a good thing. I was frustrated with Jones a lot of the season but he showed flashes late (when in theory his finger was no longer broken) but he definitely wasn’t given a lot of clean open looks so I think he was playing outside of his comfort zone trying to be the “savior” of our three point game. I still think he comes off the bench based on our current roster but having some continuity and experience can’t be a bad thing.
