If we get him don’t let him field punts.

If Tennessee gave that qb 8 mil and Miami always had the rep to pay, better get those checks ready. The kid may prefer Florida but he isn’t going to leave a fat stack on the table. Our cap is whatever we have available, use it wisely.

Sounds like the old excuses of facilities will just turn into well we don’t pay people like other schools.

Well that's not really an excuse, it's a very valid reason when openly paying players is the norm. Most people don't take jobs that pay less money. Why would a college athlete?

I get your point but this is not necessarily true. Paycheck is important but not the end all be all in many cases. It obviously depends on the kid and his motivations, but if you aren’t paying as much, you better have a damn good overall value proposition AND be able to sell it. I have no idea about our NIL money but I ‘think’ Coach Napier has the latter covered. Fingers crossed it works out for us in the end.

I mean, how many of y’all would take a job for way less money. The landscape was blown up and is being strip mined

Guess that depends on if the person taking the job wants to work too or just sit in the break room all season. Like someone else Said, depends on their motivation. Most know the real (guaranteed) money is at the next level. no reason to get buried on the depth chart just because they paid you the most to sit there if your goal is to shine and move on up.

I know this is not a popular opinion here, but if you are a young person who grew up with nothing, it's an easy decision. I will take the money now, if someone is willing to give it to me. That's my opinion only because my parents were poor. When I was a kid, my mom was always worried about how she will be able to feed 5 kids. So, I don't blame these kids if they choose money over other things.

Not to mention few of these kids have strong emotional ties to any particular program, and certainly not anything like the denizens of a message board commenting on such decisions. Most kids like the coaches at more than one school, so the fatness of the stack is likely to be a significant factor (and understandably so).

Especially when Gator coaches have only been here since December/January and HS seniors have been talking to coaches at other programs for 3 years now. 36 months versus 4 for UF coaching staff. Kirby, Saban, Dabo and Jimbo have consistency in HC to sell.

And a lot of ego in play. A lot of bragging and a lot of lying about sums.

I sure hope everyone realizes that college is not the first payout for alot of these athletes...many have been getting mony and perks in high school so its just a continuation of the system they know.

Excuses, facts, whichever is preferred. Payroll will be the biggest factor in recruiting but I think that’s been happening all along.

These kids aren't going to commit until their agents, lawyers, handlers, and family members have time to fully vette and review all offers to make sure they get a cut. It's the new gold rush - the ones getting rich are the ones selling shovels, pans, and boots.

And it’s true. Pretend all this other stuff matters when cash is the deciding factor. Napier is doing everything else top notch. If our class doesn’t reach top 5, there’s no other answer.
It’s kinda absurd to think all the other things mean a thing without the cash to back it up.

I just listen to all the praise and feel like all the hard work is for nothing if we can’t pay.
