What the 'stats' don't show is we have only have one player on this team who has a chance to play in the big leagues. Barco is his name

Had a 4-0 lead on 3 home runs going to the bottom of the 4th. Gave up a solo HR then, another run in the 5 and 4 more in the 6th. Meanwhile, our bats have gone silent and all the momentum is with Vandy. These are 2 teams ranked in the Top 1- [re-season who have been struggling with losing records in the SEC. Both are young, but I see Vandy battling and fighting more than the Gators, getting better swings than our guys. VT Riopelle just hit his 3rd HR of the game to tie it at 6-6, but who has confidence in our bullpen?

Not me so I had to quit watching, similar to many of our basketball games. Just too painful. Hoping for egg in my face when I check the score in the morning.

I'm starting to believe this might turn into another 'Mike White situation' based on a few things.....

You might be right, you might be completely full of s—-, but your weak-d—- “I know something but I won’t say what it is” BS is just that. MTFU and say your supposed insider info, or don’t spout off at all.

UF baseball blew a 4-0 lead and lost to Vandy 8-6, dropping them to 21-14, 5-9 in the SEC. B.T. Riopell had 3 HR's and 5 RBI, with Josh Rivera hitting a solo HR for our other run. Wyatt Langford had 2 hits and Sterlin Thompson 1 and that was it for the gators, who drew 6 walks and 3 HBP, but 13 K's and 9 stranded base runners. Brandon Sproat pitched into the 6th inning, but was left in too long and was charged with 6 runs. Tyler Nesbitt pitched .2 innings and was charged with the loss because a leadoff walk with 1 out in the 7th and came around to score after he was relieved by Blake Purnell, who gave up another walk and an RBI single to put Vandy up 7-6. They added an insurance run on Ryan Slater in the 8th for the final score. Although the Gators were not charged with an error they had several misplays on the infield (at least 3 that I can recall) that helped Vanderbilt's effort. The Commodores have a true closer who finished last night and tonight and we clearly don't have anyone who has proven themselves consistently reliable out of the bullpen. Now we have to scramble for pitching tomorrow and hope to put up a bunch of runs to keep from being swept. Not looking good for the orange & blue.

i said the same thing a month ago, with zero inside info.
But it feels like when Sully went through the personal issues the program slipped, and not sure he wants to (or had the energy to) try and fix it here with all the expectations he helped create making it that much harder. Wouldn’t surprise me if he wanted a fresh start.
I did think it would be next year though if it happened, that he might give it that extra year to see if the young pitching came around.

So we fianlly hire a pitching coach and our pitching goes south. Probably not the poor guy's fault.

    <joke>Maybe we souldn't hire a hitting coach.</joke>

Two years without a closer or relief pitching that can save games. We are losing a lot of games late this year. Can’t hold leads.

Sully said something recently if he’d known he’d been more active in the portal bringing in pitchers.

reality is if we’d just kept what we had here may have been ok.
Mink- could have helped this year
Centala- would have helped this year
Cabarcas- would have helped this year.

if nothing else they have experience over freshmen.

I don't agree with the Sully to Mike White comparison. Sully has actually won stuff - SEC regular season and tournament champs, national title, numerous World Series appearances (equivalent to the Elite 8). White had 1 Elite 8 and no titles of any kind.

Two guys need to sit out a game or two, Colby and Deric, they are not productive in the last several games! Pitching is anyones guess??

Yep, but will Sully send that message. Halter’s fire is what I love about him. Too many lack his passion but he’s struggling mightily.
Deric, will be s big timer before he leaves but right now he just needs a break. Sometimes taking a few off gives an athlete a different perspective and helps them to see some things they cannot see while playing.

we have some guys on here that are great breaking down stats. I’d bet both Deric and Kolby are batting under 140 (Deric) and 200 ( Halter) in SEC play.

A few other things to look at:
Are their at bats competitive? Are they seeing it well?

Are they hitting line drives right at people?
I would have to say No to both.

Sully lost a few guys last season that seemed eager to leave rather than stay on for one more season - could it be they sensed something was off with the culture of the team or its leadership?. These include Hickey, Scott, Aleman, Mink, Centala, Specht, Acton, Carrion- man the Gators would have a different look had some of these guys decided to return as they all could have. When so many choose to leave it makes one wonder why?
