I don't pay attention to mid major hoops. Those are the guys who would be attracted to a big raise in pay.

If I was AD, I would break the bank to get Pitino, Sr, regardless of his indiscretions. He could fire things up. That's all I got.

 

I think Stricklin is not long for the world. He's done a terrible job with our revenue generating sports. I think the new President will do due diligence and eventually terminate him. It won't be soon enough.

 

I could seriously get behind Rick Pitino. Dude can flat out coach. As HC at Iona, he's beat Alabama this season and played Kansas tough. All of his indiscretions were of the personal type (banging women who were not his wife).

Take money out of his salary to pay a compliance officer or two.

 

With Stu Slackline at the helm, UF is now #58 in the Director's Cup. I remember for many years it seems we were only #2 behind Stanford and that was because Stanford has programs like underwater basket weaving and their vaunted one-armed rowing team who would paddle circles around every other program.

Wasn't aware of the numbers, but that's really sad. I used to call on Jeremy when he was an Assistant AD and I worked for Vettel (that's how old I am) and I thought he was pretty sharp. He turned out pretty good. His replacement, not so much....

I wouldn't stress too much about being in 58th place after the fall sports cycle. This is to be expected and where we normally stand. It's after the completion of Winter Sports (Gymnastics, Basketball, MW Swimming, MW Indoor Track) when we start to climb up. Spring Sports (MW Tennis, Softball, baseball, lacrosse, outdoor T&F, golf) is when we usually win a natty or 2 and finish strong. Last year, we finished 5th. 2016-17, 2017-18, 2018-19 3rd (no 2019-20 COVID), 2015-16 5th. 2014-15 4th, 2013, 2012, 2011 2nd place.

 

The standings are released 3x a season. In January after Fall Sports, then in April after Winter Sports, and finally after Spring Sports (last sport is Baseball and final standings are released after Omaha). UF has seen it's greatest success with our Spring programs in the last couple of decades- Women's Tennis, Softball, Track and Field, Baseball, Lacrosse, Golf, and now Men's Tennis.

I personally think Scott came in following a legendary AD, trying to keep a low profile, focus on facilities, and not rub anyone the wrong way..

After seeing what he orchestrated with Napier, I’m hopeful he might be ready to do the same in basketball..
