Any chance some of the Seniors can return next year?

We need a fresh start. Nothing against those guys but they can move on. No way White is here next season. This UF team is about to go 6-12 in the SEC. SS will not be able to retain him.

 

I doubt we will have 13 new players next year (someone has to come back and claim a starting role), but I expect it to be rough whether White is retained or not. So not sure those guys would all want that extra year even if it’s available. We have potential to be a winless team next year, unless we again manage to hit the portal hard again just to achieve mediocrity.

A new coach would probably appreciate having something to work with. I certainly don’t think there is a scenario where they wouldn’t be wanted back. But some of these guys really thought they were coming to make an NCAA run THIS year, not sure if granted a bonus year they’d want to participate in a rebuild.

 

Jones still has a covid year left, but I thought McKissic and Fleming are using their covid year this season. Not sure about Duruji. I'd definitely be happy to have Jones and Duruji back.

 

I believe that you only get to go through the portal one time without having to sit out a year. There might be an exception if you graduate but have remaining eligibility.

 

I’d like to see some fresh faces next season, players as well as coaches. Program needs to be overhauled.

I believe that everyone of them can come back, except for anyone who is playing his 5th year of college basketball. So, look it up and report back.

 

McKissic and Fleming are fifth year players.
Everyone else is theoretically able to come back.

IF we make the tourney AND all the above players come back, I’d give Mike White one more year to see what he can do under this scenario with the quality freshman coming in.

 

Yeah. You’re probably right, but when I started typing I didn’t realize that that’s what the come on man was about. When I realized it, I kept typing.

 

This is a really interesting take and the first I've seen for a scenario of White coming back for 1 more year... if the Gators just get into the NCAA tournament and those guys were committed to another year. I definitely agree with you about the incoming class. Some stud bigs too which would suck to lose.

This has been a trying year. To start off so well and then completely fall off the wagon. I thought this was going to be White's kind of team and this imo to date has been one of his poorer coaching jobs. Right now we don't resemble a tournament team, but perhaps we saw a little life at Auburn. Jones may have found his shot which is a must. This next game is gigantic imo if the Gators are going dancing. Not over, but an uphill climb.

 

I agree on all accounts. If we lose some of those 4 guys next year it will be a disaster. This is why what happens this season, and the momentum we will have going into next season, is so important.

If I was SS I would watch the roster carefully. I don’t think this is exaggeration when I say this - it will literally be feast or famine next year. We could have a team that contends for the SEC and makes a deep run into the tourney or we could have a team that fights up hill all year to win 5 SEC games.

You obviously keep MW under the first scenario and you fire him during the off-season if you see a deterioration of the roster under the second scenario.

 

Grateful - I don't see UF beating LSU so an 0-3 SEC start is what we are facing. Things could get away from us quickly if it does not turn around.
