You do realize that's exactly what Biden did with Africa, right? The restrictions don't include American citizens or lawful permanent residents. o_O

Yet another review of natural immunity. Will still have the fear mongers saying there isn’t enough data lol. The rest of us realize how important natural immunity is.

We identified 1,392 reports. Of those, 10 studies were eligible for our systematic review. The weighted average risk reduction against reinfection was 90.4% with a standard deviation of 7.7% (p-value: 0.01). Protection against SARS-CoV-2 reinfection was observed for up to 10 months. Studies had potential information, selection, and analysis biases. The protective effect of prior SARS-CoV-2 infection on re-infection is high and similar to the protective effect of vaccination. More research is needed to characterize the duration of protection and the impact of different SARS-CoV-2 variants.

Yet at the time the “scientists” halting travel was not helpful and criticized it…

The WHO strongly advised against travel restrictions other than for early on & short term so that countries could set up a response. They also said the evidence suggests longer term restrictions brings more harm by inhibiting access to needed aid.

But we've now had nearly two years of data with research suggesting that the WHO was right because once a virus (strain) escapes some area of concentration, travel restrictions become much less effective.

I'm not sure what the situation would be regarding emergence of new viral strains within an existing pandemic and what it means for the effectiveness of travel restrictions. If Omicron is concentrated in Africa, it might make sense for a short term restriction. If not, probably not.

BTW, what's up with the scare quotes around scientists?

    Your curiosity is misplaced.

You don't see Biden gleefully calling it the African virus or African flu with dem supporters joyfully and mindlessly furthering such racism.

    Gleefully? Lol.

Until China allows a full and open investigation into the origins of the virus and pays the world reparations for delaying/hiding the outbreak then yes, calling it the China virus is the least we should be doing if we had a national spine.

Are you suggesting that using racist labels means having a spine?

Calling it the Wuhan virus would not have been outside of historical norms. Calling it the China virus was a deliberate attempt by Trump to deflect from his own incompetence on the issue.

The Fully Vaccinated Account for 81% of the COVID Deaths in the UK – Fox26Newshenry

Maybe not but I think the way he used the terms was about racism. That it was deflection doesn't change it, imo.

Also, last year's spike in anti-Asian hate crimes doesn't seem to be coincidence. I'm not saying the spike is fully attributable to Trump, but he had been stoking people's base prejudicial feelings for years. No different than saying Mexico's sending all their rapists etc.

From the report: The rate of hospitalizations and deaths among unvaccinated are consistently and considerably higher than for vaccinated.

Just think how many fewer hospitalizations and deaths there would be with a fully vaccinated population?

Don’t deflect. You are either wrong or purposefully lied.
Funny, I believe you are one of the posters that criticize the media. Lots of good media sources out there, but there are plenty of people consuming shit media and propagating the lies. It is amazing how gullible or willfully ignorant some people are.

It's weird, but I'd rather not have to. I think you'd agree that there really shouldn't be a debate over the rates, which have been clear, if one doesn't let end result percentages confuse interpretation.

I was about to post a different .jpg, but here it is. I think people miss how the number of deaths didn't spike with the UK's last major spike in cases, compared to earlier waves. This tells the same story of vaccine effectiveness.

Yeah, I think the science and math are pretty obvious but some were told at the beginning that science is political so the ignorance is the hill they chose.
I seriously don’t think all the anti science crowd is that clueless on here, some of it has to be trolling.
