Aren't these the same folks who have argued it was unnecessary to shoot a black guy who came after police with a knife?

Nice to know that 202 republicans do not think congressional subpoenas are enforceable. At least not in the case of Bannon. Can the rest of us start ignoring subpoenas now? Asking for a friend.....
If they cannot be enforced, then why does congress even have subpoena power?

It isn’t as if she was an innocent victim or bystander. She was quite literally leading a mob through a broken window. It just so happened to be guarded. Seems to me if you are breaking through a window and on the other side is someone pointing a gun at you, if you persist in breaking in, the odds of getting shot are pretty high.

That officer wasn’t the only one to draw his weapon, a lot of other cops didn’t because they were too vulnerable. There was that image of the officers barricaded in the house chambers with weapons drawn, but they didn’t fire because nobody was able to get through their barricade (at least not while they were there). If someone tried, it’s quite likely they too would have been shot. Babbit just tried to break into the wrong window at the wrong time. That’s on her and nobody else. No sympathy.

Are you referring to the guy with known mental issues and the mother told the cops not to shoot? Wasn’t that a single guy totally surrounded and outnumbered by police? Yeah, that’s totally the same circumstance as a nut-job leading a violent insurrectionist mob into congressional back offices.

The only real similarity is both characters were undoubtedly mentally ill, and both are now dead.

yeah they were “calm”. Bizarre how trump followers continue to defend this riotous magaa mob.

Probably good to watch this again - and realize there are trumpkins still defending this attack. (Click “watch on youtube”)

I truly feel sorry for the officers that had to try and defend our capital against the trump-follower mob.

The trumpists are just disappointed it did not work. We may not be as fortunate next time.

most people on the right were sick to their stomach with the hundred or so violent idiots that day. There were hundreds of thousands people there that day. A very small few acted like criminals and deserve punishment for it.

First, there were not hundreds of thousands of people there that day. Second, there have been hundreds arrested for violent crimes with hundreds more wanted for additional violent crimes. If it is such a small minority, why did you put your thumb on the scale of both the numerator and denominator?

Something prosecutors always file with “calm and welcoming” insurrections.

hundreds of thousands!? That is overstatement.
And there have been over 600 charged. And that’s just who they could find. Most wouldn’t call that “a very small few”.

Every line in his post was inaccurate.

A lot of people on the right were hardly “sick to their stomach”, the vast majority try and deflect away from it. The party itself refuses to investigate it, some go to the extreme of calling those criminals “political prisoners”. Just today, only 9 Republicans voted to enforce a subpoena on Bannon, one of the prime instigators and conspirators behind the events of that day.

No, there were not “hundreds of thousands” there. There were maybe 10,000. Out of that 10,000 you have nearly 1000 that committed some act of violence or criminal behavior (700 already identified). That’s a bit more than a “small few”. It’s at least 5% that committed some type of criminal act, and that is probably generous to the crowd size and those that won’t be charged.

There are 202 traitors currently in the House of Representatives. Party over country will be the end of democracy as we know it in this country. What are the republicans afraid of? The American people have a right to know. How anyone can not see that it was a concerted effort by Trump and his political aides and cronies to initiate the insurrection need to take off the partisan glasses. Peaceful assembly is not against the law, but inciting a mob to overthrow and stop the democratic process is a traitorous act and those responsible should be charged and prosecuted to the maximum extent. The instigators of the insurrection need to be held responsible.
