I am no SS fan either. If they have credible evidence from that many years back and he knowingly did nothing, then he should go... and it wouldn't break my heart one bit.

You can call it trash reporting from the alligator, but the reality is it's been over 2 months and no other outlet has cared enough to try. Something needed to be published even if it's kind of a hodgepodge of somewhat unsurprising and very concerning details.

I guess we may see even more now that the vultures know there's a story here. Probably bad for the program to have to rehash it all again now, but it's what the AD deserves for trying to sweep it under the rug I suppose.

I think Scott could end up being the one losing the most here. This whole situation has been mishandled badly.

Stricklin needs to answer some questions. I don't think this explanation is sufficient.

He should lose the most. He lied to the Alligator, knew about what was going on in the program and EXTENDED HIM ANYWAY. Despite the fact that he was terrible at winning basketball games. Once the allegations were made, and the investigation validated them, there was NO REASON for him to keep his job yet Stricklin extended him anyway.

    Stricklin should be fired.

We disagree on Cam's coaching and recruiting I know... but 100% agree Stricklin needs to go if he extended him knowing of validated abuse claims. The throwing basketballs is a huge red flag, if true. That should have been immediately dealt with. This is a horrible look for Scott all the way around. Kelly comes away not looking that great here either (or any other staff member who has been here the entire time and not spoken out).

To be fair the extension and resignation could have been a legal $$ move

I think that since players came back once she was announced as the interim coach, she probably wasn't seen as the villain here. From reports prior to this story, she had run-ins with Cam about his methods in front of the team.

I get that, but if it was this bad someone should have went public long ago. We are probably getting very little of this story though, and I think more will come out. Really hoping Kelly succeeds, but seems cleaning house of anyone affiliated would be the smartest move. She probably has an outside shot, but she is going to need a sensational season. I hate the interim tag though... this years recruiting has suffered because of it. Whatever happens we have to get this next hire right, be it Kelly or someone else. This program deserves to finally have some success.

Kinslow is saying Kelly covered for him. Not saying it's true or not, but it's a bad look all the way around.

What I've heard is the players love Kelly. Now that doesn't make her a good coach but it would seem to speak to her credibility with current players.

Seems like this requires a little bit of patience before firing the AD over the article as is.

I’d like to see a detailed timeline from SS/UF perspective, but not sure they are allowed to give that due to Hippa/privacy rules.

so much conflicting stuff about some players really liking Cam and others hating him. SS basically admitted he had information proving most allegations at least to me. If he sat on it that long I personally think he needs to hit the road. I like SS, have met him and talked to him several times, but this is inexcusable and really this is tearing me up reading about some of this stuff because this is my school and I love the university and I dont want that stigma and stench continuing to fester at the school I love so much

Everyone knows I love the talent Cam had brought into the program, but I want to make sure no one thinks I am defending abuse. If he abused players, then good riddance. I do still think we need a lot more information. With this story out does anyone come to his defense similar to the situation at Syracuse?

My issues with the article are that it's a little all over the place. The part about liking their hair, but not touching it seems like a far reach and very bizarre. Unless I am missing something. I don't see racism at all in the story. The clothing part I'd like more information on, but right now I think the racist part is a reach... more could definitely come out to change my mind on that.

The fact that almost all the players in the article were Butler recruits and mostly in the same class bothers me a bit. I am not saying these girls are lying, but we do need context. We know he basically wiped out that Freshmen class (and SO) and brought in his players. It is not uncommon... it sucks for the players but it is Div I basketball. Morang, Johnson, Thomas, Hayes, Searcy were all in those two classes. Lorenzen is obviously the most credible source, IMO, not that the other girls aren't but the one that would have the least amount of bias. I am going to leave my thoughts on Kinslow's antics and multiple transfers to myself, but again if abuse happened Cam had to go! I will say I noticed Faith Dut liked a comment on Twitter that seems to show her being in agreement with the toxic culture, and she is a Cam recruit who has been here for several years. I'd love to hear from current players, but doubtful that it will happen.

Now to the throwing basketballs. That is completely unacceptable, as is making light of serious injuries. There are some troubling bits of information for sure in the article. I just think some of the more bizarre claims water it down a bit.

Obviously if Kelly did cover AT ALL for Cam in this time frame, she needs to go as well. Whether it be malicious or being afraid... we can't have someone who is afraid to report abuse as a Head Coach. We do not know the whole story, but the great thing about this article is we may finally start to get more of it. For now she is safe.

Stricklin however has completely mishandled this. I've thought since this went down the total lack of information and rapidness of everything was questionable. Did he really think this wouldn't get out to the public? If so, he's not very wise. Did he try to hide it intentionally? Then he is part of the problem... either way he needs to go because he made it far worse.

Whatever comes out, we all need to remember the girls are probably going through a lot right now. Whatever it is these girls have went through, they deserve our respect and full support. Regardless of who is coaching this season vs next I am hoping they can drown out all the outside noise and have a great season...
The future can still be bright.

Step One would be to interview ALL the players currently on the roster, and as many as you can get that were formerly on the roster.

The part about Butler players the ones really claiming is what gets me, but I was told yesterday it was a player also he recruited and at least one who transferred in who felt abused. I had heard of him throwing balls for a few years at practice but did not know it was sometimes thrown at the player. Which I was told is true, I am not torn about Cam I am glad he is gone. I am torn a bit about SS, why did he keep him on? Why didnt he share until after the article came out? If timeline is correct from the information I got I think he should be gone. But I and the people I got the information from were not 100 on the timeline. I also was told that the asst coaches were always protecting the young ladies and were part of the group that brought up the issues before hand and Cam was "disciplined".

Racism is a term that's come to encompass a lot of things in the last few years, including what's considered "othering." As an old white male, I don't know enough to say why, but I do know the touching of the hair -- or the asking if you can touch a black person's hair -- is considered inappropriate and an act of aggression because the only reason to do so is because it's different than yours as a white person. I've seen that mentioned a lot in the last year. And the fact that he then couched it by saying "I know I shouldn't" adds a I-know-you-might-think-this-is-racist-but-I-think-it's-silly component to the encounter. It's the same thing with shopping for more appropriate clothes -- there's an inherent insult and judgement being made about what they are wearing when you make that kind of statement.

The Assistant interim coach hired that had Stanford and WNBA experience was a good hire in this situation. Really good Coaching background and experience level working with college kids and professionals. Brings maturity and credibility to role. Had been out of basketball for a few years, but great hire considering circumstances and interim status of HC

I get not touching anyone's hair... but simply saying you like their hair is not racist. Though it doesn't really matter because there are some much more disturbing parts to the story. I don't understand how he ever remained the second he hit a player with a ball. That is easily abuse, and how the university allowed any of it to happen is truly disturbing.

Not trying to get into the weeds on this, but the quote was that he liked her hair but wouldn't try to touch it because he knew he shouldn't.
