    Ohhhhh...that is a good one!
    Can I plaguerize that one?
Much like that line from the movie,
"Son, your ego is writing checks that your body cannot cash."

1, you have declared it: Mull has our OL situation in a sweet spot. In a matter of a few short weeks we will see if your belief is correct. Perhaps you are.

Presuming the majority of posters know to look in the WR thread for an OL discussion, I did make myself available for ridicule as early as next week. :) If the OL is a bust or less than grade B, I'll be right here to take the flak which is sure to come.

Just as important to me is being right about the future OLs performing up to a good standard.

You are well aware that bama is rebuilding its OL due to the loss of 3 starting OL including the center. They have a completely new QB/Center exchange. However, bama is presumed to be able to plug in 3 new 5 star players on the OL and a new/inexperienced QB and be ready to rock and roll. Their #1 ranking proves it. However, being backups is one thing. These guys have yet to prove anything as starters.

UF is doing it the old fashioned way. They get the players they can get who have good measurables and can be developed. If you have the right position numbers to recruit to each recruiting season, the development and play of the OL eventually goes on auto pilot. Basically, get them in and coach them up. You may never be better than a grade B OL, but that isn't a bad thing if grade B is attained in most seasons. I'll take an occasional A grade if it happens, those like the Great Wall of Florida back in the 80s. It hasn't happened often in UF history.

The first of the OL grade B seasons should start in 21. Mullen has done a good job of meeting his recruiting goals even if fans don't understand and appreciate what he has accomplished in building his OL roster.

Yes, I'm out here for ridicule, but, again, I think I'll be proven right soon.

EDIT: OL players back who played against bama in the SECCG:

LT: Richard Gouraige moved from LG to LT, Stone Forsyth and TJ Moore moved on. Think Emory Jones is a right hander so Gouraige and Gerald Mincey get the job of protecting Jones' blindside. Gouraige is a 4 year player and Mincy is a second year player.

LG: None: Ethan White, a 3rd year Jr, moved from C to LG, the 2 Griffin McDowell moved to DT. Ethan White cross trains at C. Good article on White and Gouraige working together:

White's Weight Loss Could Mean Gains On Field - Florida Gators

Ethan White was the 3C after missing the first half of 2020 due to a knee injury sustained in the 2020 Fall Camp. He wasn't listed on the Alabama game depth chart, but he does appear on the participation list.

C: Kingsley Equakun was the 2 behind Brett Heggie so 2 to 1.

RG: Same - Stewart Reese and Josh Braun. Stewart Reese cross trains at C

RT: Same - Jean Delance and Michael Tarquin

To me, UF also has the advantage of having a 4th year RJr QB taking the snaps from a 3rd year RSo center who was the 2 in the 2020 season. I'm placing more faith in Jones and Richardson getting the job done than the OL.

Or you might be making things up.

Did our OL grade below B last season?

Or you simply can't understand or accept the big picture which is more likely.

You want to go back and grade the 2020 OL after I stated several times in this thread that B should be the minimum grade moving forward each year starting in 21, have at it. Don't make me add lack of reading comprehension to your list of flaws.

I'm thinking seriously about adding to your list redirecting of discussions when you can't win on the merits. I'll await you saying anything of significance in this discussion, but I won't be holding my breath.

Yes that’s probably exactly what it is.
The reason I linked the 20 OL class is you said we only need to add a few quality OL. Next recruiting class? I didn’t realize we are in position to be light two cycles in a row but I don’t see the big picture. Good to know though.

Not going to twist your arm.

Give it serious thought while holding your breath and see how that works for you. While you are doing that I will continue to hope our three OL from last cycle pan out and that the staff surprises you and adds at least two more this cycle that have a reasonable chance to play SEC football.

I will say that the OL was likely hurt the most from losing Coach Savage development opportunities to Covid last year. I read an article that suggests Reese is 40 pounds lighter this year as an example. Will see what happens. Kingsley and Tarquin were originally UM verbals and everyone wanted King Rich and Braun, so there is some talent there. Unfortunately not much depth compared to other top college football teams. Huge drop off if injuries occur during the season.

End of page 3/beginning of page 4 when thread transitions to OL. You can see where it happens.

“Bond also said other schools have recruited him to play cornerback, but he insists he wants to play wide receiver at the next level. He also has been actively recruiting five-star wide receiver Evan Stewart to team with him in the Swamp.”

Griffin McDowell moved to DT and is our ninth DT after playing in 24 games on OL the past 3 years. Guess he didn't see PT on OL this year?

We know our starting 5 on OL and assume Bruan is next man up, look forward to seeing Mincey, Simonds, Leonard, Tarquin, Harrod, Barber, Slaughter, and Mughabil fill out the 2nd string OL this year to prep for a more prominent role in '22. We have a lot of OL on the roster and with Delance and Reese being our only SRs, hopefully a few of the young guys pan out.

I tried to get the thread back on the rails:

Are you saying Livingston and David Conner are the OL Class?

That was before we were told Livingston is playing himself out of the OL class. I now have Livingston out of the class based on Bobby's report of him playing QB on his high school team. There is no way he can meet UF development targets playing QB and likely not following that up playing basketball either.

At this time, I have David Conner as the likely only OL commit.

I think I made some good observations in the new OL thread. I could be all wrong, but haven't been thrown to the wolves for being wrong, yet. Let's take the OL discussion there. Thanks.

    Gator Bait!

I think I made some good WR and TE observations here that have gone almost totally undiscussed. I still say let's take the OL discussion to the OL thread. Think I made some good observations there too that have not been discussed as they should have been.

Speaking of Fraziars, has anyone heard anything about him throughout camp? Good length on the outside, thought he'd be able to make some noise

We’ve moved a TE and an OG to DL in the last two years. Depth concern on DL, but also inability to make two deep in former roles.

The TE should have been moved.

I don't know so much about the OG. It may have been to just get the numbers at the positions where Mullen wanted them as he probably wasn't going to play either way.

Lang played more defense in high school than TE and was recruited for both positions. He has really gotten size since high school.
