I am now at wits end and ready too blow this thing up. Thank you for your help.
Internet Explorer is the most likely weakness link in your rather old chain of computer hardware and software. Internet Explorer was rather poor before Microsoft abandoned is a few years ago and gets no support from them at all. Many more modern web features don't work with it and these could be causing it to fail. There are many other much better browsers. The one I suggest you try is Brave (click here to get a download page). You can also go with Chrome or Firefox if you want bigger browsers. Good luck.
It is most annoying when a household appliance doesn't work correctly. What do you see to make you realize the Internet is 'shutting down?' Dies your whole computer shutdown or do you just get a rude message in the web browser? How does your computer connect to the Internet? Is it hardwired or over Wi-Fi? I am guessing that it might be Wi-Fi. It could be that some sort of radio interference, like your neighbor's wife's wireless controlled vibrator, might be occurring. You could check to see how your Internet speed is via any of the speed checks out there. Internet Speed Test is a simple one. Sorry the easy fix didn't help - hang in there!
