The Official Offensive Line OL recruiting thread

On his Twitter, the sad saga of Issiah Walker (former OL signee who never made it to campus and transferred to Miami) continues. I feel for him and his parents. I do have to think though that this was someone that the coaches had to have been aware of the mental health issues and nevertheless took a chance on him. What a difference it would have made if we could have pulled in Dumervil in that '20 class instead.

Sounds a LOT LIKE that this kid has no interest in a future at OT.

May be. But if that’s the case, you’re talking about a Coach that isn’t concerned with his players future. And while you want a Coach that is playing for the best ‘now’, you still want one that is playing for his kids futures as well.

Lots of good info and conversation in this thread. I could be completely wrong but I don't have near the angst on the OL that many have.

They have lots of bodies there. We just haven't seen the OL play or in practice. These make a lot of people nervous because of the unknown. Couple with the way they played last year.

 

Alabama is not our natural recruiting area, so it's amazing that some show so much interest in us (and some commit) when they have options in state.

6’5” 330 as a sophomore. Wow

 

It's not, but we seem to do pretty decently in Alabama.

 

I wouldn’t call what I feel angst but I don’t have much confidence. Line takes a long time to build but this is a year that Hev has to own.

 

Or size perhaps. Is he really 265? He’s a football player apparently. Maybe the next PH ?

 

Ivey was a 5 star that had trouble putting on weight. Bench at combine was poor compared to other top tackles
