Smallpox has variants. Two major and several minor. Polio has three major variants too, with a few minor ones as well. How did we all but eliminate these diseases in the western world? Through mass vaccinations.

There are still epidemic pockets of these diseases, mostly in developing countries. But cases in developed countries are exceedingly rare. That's because practically everyone in the US was vaccinated for these viruses at one point.

Just like it took years to all but eradicate polio and smallpox, it will be the same for COVID-19. But step one is getting everyone here vaccinated. Step two is getting the vaccine to developing countries and administering the shots there. But we can't even get step one done!

But it is possible to all but eradicate a disease with a vaccine. History shows this to be true. Enough people around the globe get vaccinated, the virus will slowly disappear. And much smaller chance of new mutation leading to new variants with significantly less people infected.

This is the race of vaccine versus variants virologists were discussing a few months ago. It's a winnable race too. Unless you think the practical elimination of smallpox and polio are hoaxes.

You keep saying this but every data point I see shows it is June only

Looking at just the state of Maryland

In Maryland, every person who died of Covid-19 in June was unvaccinated. That's not an aberration, experts say - CNN

"In Maryland, every person who died of Covid-19 in June was unvaccinated. That's not an aberration, experts say"

    This is from May:

Almost All U.S. COVID-19 Deaths Now in the Unvaccinated

AP analysis: Almost all US coronavirus deaths among unvaccinated

"That's the conclusion of a new report The Associated Press released looking at COVID-19 deaths during May 2021.

Of more than 18,000 people who died from COVID-19, for example, only about 150 were fully vaccinated. That's less than 1%."

Every reference I see about June Fauci says June. I havent seen the actual source data or source for June, other than Fauci, but the numbers aren't inconsistent with the above.

Now I see some TX data, and that goes back to February, and is 99.5%

Texas has seen nearly 9,000 COVID-19 deaths since February. All but 43 were unvaccinated people.

In Louisiana it is 94% infection rate (not death) since May

COVID-19 cases among unvaccinated surge, making up 94% of all cases in Louisiana since May | Department of Health | State of Louisiana

Only 30 in Louisiana fully vaccinated have died. That's a pretty small number.

Nearly 30 fully vaccinated Louisiana residents have died with COVID-19

Any way you cut it, the number and percentage of people who are vaxed and died is small.

Measles. Another virus with 4 main variants and about 20 sub ones. Almost eradicated from the US, but recent antivax movements has caused a few outbreaks recently. At one point, we had close to 98% vaccination for measles, and years in the US of less than 10 cases. Now, about 91% vax rates, and a big outbreak at Disneyland two years ago.

Making Sense Episodes | Sam Harris

Really good Sam Harris postcast - a contagion of bad ideas. Conversation with Eric Topol a cardiologist with experience in large clinical trials and very versed on pretty much all the issues being discussed here.

To be honest it was just the first result of a quick Google search. I had read similar takes before.

The problem when millions of people make a personal choice based upon bad information, not only does it harm them, it harms others around them too.

“Linda Zuern, a supporter of former President Donald Trump and a protester against COVID-19 vaccines, has died of coronavirus….

“Last week, Zuern was one of four people who protested in Provincetown against the state's VaxBus program. The bus is a mobile vaccination unit to help inoculate rural residents who might lack access to nearby health clinics.

“On her social media, Zuern shared posts claiming that COVID-19 was a man-made virus used by "globalists" to push the "UN Agenda 2030" for a one-world government. She also shared posts pushing the QAnon conspiracy theory, opposing Critical Race Theory in schools and repeating the claim that voter fraud "stole" the 2020 election from Trump.”

The globalists got her but her spirit lives on.

Yes they do, I don't give a shit what a business does that's on them, I don't want the county or city forcing me to make my employees get the vaccine or wear mask. I've stated this before
No I've never considered you a rino yet, but I do think you have been sucking up a bit to some of our local libs.
Looks like you were wrong on all accounts today, try again

I don’t think he even knows what/why he’s arguing at this point. He fought the good fight on “masks aren’t 100% effective”, even though no one ever claimed they were. Now he’s moved on to, “vaccines aren’t as effective as predicted” even though results of a clinical trial aren’t a prediction, and no one ever claimed they were 97% effective. He’s fighting with himself as usual, because no ones made those claims. Oh, and of course he’s vaccinated, and believes all adults should be, with a vaccine that’s not that effective of course… makes total sense if you’re as smart as he is. Which were not, of course.

Sure. There are plenty on here saying how awesome the vaccines are. They are very good. Are they great? Not sure but the data out of Israel and the UK don’t look very good. As to masks. Unless it’s a N95 or similar mask, then yes masks are useless.

Make sure to post the RCT mask study again, the one that doesn't say masks are useless. I always enjoy when you do that, it's been a while.

Right, it means nothing lol. I love when a large study shows masks don’t provide safety from covid and people try to say it doesn’t. Too funny. IF masks worked like some on here think there would be a huge discrepancy in the states that had mask mandates versus those that didn’t. But that didn’t happen. So keep up that line of thinking like the other lemmings.
