Not doubting, but the 2 sites that I've been watching to keep track of 2021 draft signees still shows Young as unsigned as of this morning.

To me Young was our best player this year. Reminds me a lot of David Eckstein - hustler, grinder, team guy who gives it his all every game. The Nationals are getting a bargain, IMO.

Hitting wise??? Because pitching wise 2021 struck out more hitters per 9. 9.2 vs 9.06.

I haven’t looked at the hitting stats between years.

Best of luck JY, you were the heart and soul of this Gators team and will be greatly missed... a few more guys with your grit and determination could have mada a big difference this year.

Friends, we came into the 2021 season confident that with all the experienced returnees and a solid recruiting class, sky was the limit... and now we've lost many key players to pro ball and transfers... next year will be very interesting indeed. It happens to all college baseball teams but with our underperfomance this year it will be interesting to see who can pitch, hit and field.... Pitching will be the big question mark... I see no proven performer after Barco... Kids will have to step up big time.

Little concerned about the culture of this program currently.. no actually a lot. Lots of issues, but that’s for another day

I agree, something happening in the culture of the program that is off. It was clear in the underperfomance during season and the utter collapse in the Regionals... plus the eagerness of so many to go pro or transfer... something is not quite right.

So many things and or people can have impact effects on a baseball team as everyone knows.

From the coaches—teaching every basic principle of the game has got to be a top priority to field a top rated team.

From the players—team chemistry/team leadership has got to be a mainstay in the clubhouse/in the dugout/and on the field (in practice as well as in the games) has got to be established and carried out.

I don’t propose on how to make this happen—but to re-establish Gator Baseball it’s got to happen.

And to this I say Go Gators!

The leader needs to go back to being a better 'role model' to his team.
This has been missed over past few seasons......

Jay Allen signed with the Reds today for $2.4 million. Not bad.
And now Jacob Young's signing has posted to MLB.com. His signing bonus was $275,000.

I looked it up for the fun of it:
    2017: 496 Ks in 2338 AB. 1 in every 4.71 ABs
    2021: 506 Ks in 2049 AB. 1 in every 4.05 ABs. 16% more Ks in 2021.

Surprised!! I do seem to think we strike out a lot over the years but I’m sure it is not as bad as it seems
