Sorry to be late—leftover taco bean soup tonight....

    Partly sunny/partly cloudy day here.

Changing it up with a bourbon and ginger drink today with Ms. Jan’s chilled wine.

Asian pork and mustard greens soup tonight. I know that I made this recently, but I have chopped mustard greens that I have to use before they get all soggy.

And it a favorite of everyone except my carnivore son.

    In a Collins/highball glass? A summer favorite.

Was warm in Gainesville today. Maybe a Tom Collins or gin and tonic for dinner libations.

Tonight I’ll be grilling hamburger steaks from a freshly ground boneless chuck roast. Baked potatoes will be on the top rack.

Inside we will have a fresh Caesar salad to go along with.

The back porch paddle fans got cranked up today as we reached 74* along with rain/cloudy/muggy.

Ice cold longnecks and chilled wine are the refreshments for the afternoon and early evening.

Tonight we’ve got grilled wings and a cold tray. Simple, but always good.

We had fog early, then rain til about 1 PM. Cloudy skies with a light breeze for the afternoon.

Ice cold longnecks and chilled wine are available on the back porch this afternoon and evening.

And what's up with Grape Nuts? My MIL likes them and they have been off the shelf at Publix for a LONG time.

I used to eat them with yogurt and malt for breakfast when I ate breakfast. I now skip the "most important meal of the day".

We have not had Grape Nuts for months.

They carry them, but just don't have any.

Betting whoever orders is slacking walking around with their laser gun and not “hitting” all the tags with empty slots on the shelves.

I've been grazing on some of the Kashi cereals for a change of pace. My normal go to though is frosted mini-wheats or Quaker Oats granola. This morning it was just a glass of orange juice and a banana and a little while later a red delicious apple.

I like the OJ with as much pulp as possible. :emoji_fork_knife_plate:

I’ll be grilling chicken halves seasoned with coarse black pepper and Everglades seasoning. Changing it up tonight, it’s going to be Italian Dressing mopped on the chicken the last couple of turns.

A pot of fresh green beans and new potatoes and bi-color cob corns is working on the stove for our sides.

Ice cold longnecks and chilled wine are accompanying our back porch activities.

Doing a take on pho. I know that it is usually a spicy beef broth with things added to it and I love that, but I wanted something lighter tonight. I made a broth from chicken broth, star anise, cloves, ginger, coriander seeds, cardamom seeds, soy sauce, fish sauce, cloves, cinnamon, garlic chili paste, Hoisin sauce, and lime juice.

That will be brought to a boil and thinly sliced bok choy will be added for a few minutes to add a veggie.

I will separately prepare rice noodles first and then shrimp in the same water.

The dish will be constructed by first dividing the noodles between soup dishes, ladling the bok choy broth over the noodles, adding the shrimp and then having thinly sliced serrano and datil peppers, Thai basil, and cilantro available as topping for those that want them.

And of course some lime wedges.

Tonight we’ve got bone-in country cut ribs grilled indirect over cherry wood smoke.

Inside we will have fresh stewed yellow squash and onions and the left over green beans and new potatoes from last night.

Sunny day today that started at 33* and got up to 66*. Should be a beautiful sunset on the back porch this evening to complete our adult libations.

Last night my MIL that I cook for nearly every night bought us dee-lish Thai takeout.

BTW, my riff on pho with shrimp was a huge hit.

Tonight is very simple. When I make Bolognese sauce I always have too much. So I have defrosted some and will make some orecchiette as the pasta and also use some of the undressed chopped salad I made a few days ago.

I looked for a sangiovese wine at ABC and didn't find one. Total Wine is a bit of a drive. Instead I bought a montepulciano d'Abruzzo.

We cooked today at our camp for the Cypress Hunting Club. It’s a small group of 7 of us that have hunted and fished together since we all met at Chipola in August of 1970.

Everyone I’m sure would have enjoyed it as we always put on a southern hospitality camp food feed. We had (all fried in peanut oil) venison cubed steak, homemade tater fries, fried onions, smoked Hickory Hollow venison sausage, and camp beans with cut up HH venison sausage/onions/green bell peppers/ and a lil’ fatback. There was also a generous slice of hoop cheese on the table.

After that, it’ll just be Fat John’s pizza here tonight.

Ice cold longnecks and chilled wine is available on the back porch this afternoon and evening.
