worst case predictions were actually upwards of 2 million dead just in the US. Even with mismanagement and risk adherence that borders on stupidity and treason, we may “only” get to a third of that. Of course more stupidity, slowed rollout and who knows. But with Biden in the WH, science will win over tweets.
Having said that and to be fair to your point, very on in the pandemic, I was basing some of my responses off of a virologist at UF (with world class credentials) who said that most coronavirus strains are good for localized outbreaks and generally aren’t pandemic material. That post is probably still around too, but that was quickly proven false. I quickly changed my POV as data changed.

Norway Moves to Calm Vaccine Anxiety After Elderly Deaths

“In Norway, 33 people aged 75 and over died following immunization, according to the agency’s latest figures. All were already seriously ill, it said. The Scandinavian country has already inoculated almost all of its nursing home population, with more than 48,000 people vaccinated as of Monday afternoon.”

33 out of 48k is a lot with a vaccine. Let’s hope this doesn’t happen all over the world.

If only 33 people, all who were already seriously ill, in that population died following vaccination, that's really low.

Cuomo will not vacinate any, therefore none will die in ny from the vaccine, keeping his hands clean.

Why do you think they said “all seriously ill?” Not to make sure there’s no panic about the vaccine? Nah, that would never happen...

Are you seriously gonna do this?
You are gonna drag up posts from almost a year ago when this thing was much smaller and unknown?
Holding those quotes against people is one of the most unfair things I have seen on this board.
So were most people a year ago. Don't apologize for not being clairvoyant. No way we could have really known. The info was all over the place.

I don't know about the posts you are referring to (ex. wouldn't expect many to predict the vaccine outcomes), but there have been things written here worthy of rebuke. For example, when people suggested "it's only the flu," "we're past the worst of it" (in early fall), or "masks are a political tool," they set themselves up. In such cases, there's nothing wrong with calling a spade a spade afaiac.

Or maybe they said they were all already seriously ill because they were all already seriously ill. Why don't you read your own link this time and get back to us.
