Seemed to be a dozen cops right behind her. Wonder why they weren’t blocking the door? Regardless... Clearly the protesters were instructed not to enter that door or they’d be shot and she called what she thought was their bluff.

Resignations aren't that brave when your job was ending in 2 weeks anyhow.

Looks like she was shot either by secret service, or capitol police guarding people in that office area. So they probably saw that as a “last stand” line, which is why they had guns drawn. Similar to the other image of officers with guns drawn.

That woman basically earned herself a Darwin Award.

Yes, I was amazed that was allowed to happen in the first place, and that there weren’t more deaths. Especially with the Trump rally right up the street. Trump telegraphed this was coming, then literally told them to march to Congress. How did they not think to beef up security at the actual Capitol complex?

There’s probably a couple realities at play. A) security there is actually not hardened, and more used to dealing with tourists or individual crazies as opposed to insurrectionist mobs. B) most of the people that infiltrated were more interested in social media points and activist cred (many were seeking donations in their live streams lol), there really wasn’t a plan for when they “got there”, it’s just fortunate some nut job didn’t start shooting.

Sad, but she left them with no choice. It’s peak privilege to think you can break into a federal building like a wild animal and ignore multiple warnings to retreat. I read that 3 more clowns died from medical issues out there too, probably from being overweight and out of shape.

Maybe because Mexico didn’t pay for this one, either?

    Another resignation. Mick Mulvaney.

Just a reminder that Mulvaney’s the one that wrote an opinion in the WSJ that Trump would concede gracefully if he lost.

Its not about bravery, its about trying to be employable in the near future.

That was cold bloodied murder straight up. I thought the shooter was one of the protestors.

No warning shot, no warning at all. She was unarmed.

    That was brutal to watch.

Every single one of the prominent former Trump team members resigning now knew what Trump was the day they went to work for him. They knew what he was every time they defended him in the media the last four years.

I’m glad they are speaking out now. But they have to know they furthered the narcissist’s self interest for four years. Some may actually feel remorse.

We've been telling you for years police shooting unarmed people was murder. Weird it only resonated now. Wonder why....

This sort of reminds me of when Megan McCain and Megan Kelly both came out in favor of paid maternity leave only after they had kids.

Or like when I didn't have much of an opinion on healthcare reform until I had a family and was paying out of pocket 12k a year in premiums.

I dislike Mitch, borderline hate (and I rarely hate anyone), but at least you can appreciate what that turtle brings to the table through his understanding of procedural law, etc. Chuck Schumer is a damn waste.

Why would you bring zip ties and a gun as you infiltrate the Capitol? To take hostages. That’s why.

In fact, I’m seeing reports that they brought the zip ties to take members of Congress hostage. This was an insurrection incited by the President against a coordinate branch of government in order to maintain power. It was the kind of thing that led to three civil wars in England between the Crown and Parliament. It was the actions of a megalomaniac authoritarian want to be dictator and falls squarely into the behavior of other authoritarians who are facing the loss of power.

Donald Trump has stained our Republic in a way rivaled only by Jefferson Davis.
