You can say it's stupid all you like, but I think you may be misunderstanding the angst. One constant theme I hear from my conservative friends is that the government has been wishy washy about the ordeal and they'd be right. Please do not think it went unnoticed that the government went completely radio silent on the protests. Most states clearly still had or have restrictions in place about size of public gatherings. Kentucky still does. It's 50 max as of June 29th. I cannot think of a single story I saw about a governor warning against the protests. So you contrast THAT here in Kentucky with the time that Gov. Beshear threatened to drive to churches on Sunday morning, write down license plate numbers of those who still attended churches service that day and issue citations. Looking back, that was crazy enough on its own, but when you contrast it with the complete silence as literally THOUSANDS of protesters marched shoulder to shoulder (and still are in Louisville), you see the politics of it clearly. And you can get pissed off about it all you want, but if a person is being unbiased, they're going to see a double standard there. And that's one of the reasons people are reluctant.

I'm sure it doesn't, I see pretty good numbers of people wearing masks as part of their routine.

I've also seen a completely crazy anti-mask guy protesting on a street corner, with signs and everything ("Mask = sheep", and a bunch of stuff on the other side about Soros, Obama, etc). Guy literally looked homeless. Yet there he was peddling infowars level conspiracy theories at a busy intersection. No idea what the hell was going on there LOL.

That being said, it just takes small numbers to ruin everything. All it takes is some crazed facebook group, and then you get a crowd like that in a building acting based on their self-reinforcing misinformation. Normally such protests would simply be part of free speech, but these people are literally a public health menace with their behavior, an unfortunate conundrum.

 

I’m seeing the reverse. It looks like our governors are smarter than the multiple cities and towns.

Entirely possible that the death count may rise while the death rate falls. Need to know the rate of increased positives along with the above data.

 

If it does, I don't see the connection.

The government went radio silent on protests? Most states have restrictions about the size of public gatherings? No governors warned against the protests? Contrasted with Beshear threatening to drive to churches to issue citations? Thousands of protestors marching shoulder to shoulder shows the politics of it clearly?

Assuming, for the sake of argument, that all of this is true, what is the connection to wearing masks?
