You may be right, but if McMichael feels he did no wrong, as a former cop, I bet he does not capitulate.

Went for a run today. Poked my head in this house. I still have my life. No one panicked as a white guy checked out the new construction.

I agree--mostly anyway. That's what i said early on--strikes me as incredibly bazaar, when the decedent, having a clear access to avoid confrontation, pulls a 180, and goes right at the guy with the gun.

If they were cops, they'd call it suicide by cop.

In this case, I'd say it looks a whole lot like suicide by armed redneck.

(never mind that if, as has been claimed >1,000 times up thread the necks were hunting him down... why the hell did they wait until the *deer* they were supposedly hunting stopped running away, and charged full on AT the *hunters*, and physically engaged *the hunters* with its horns....before discharging the first shot...??o_O??o_O?)

Though I don't agree on a couple of parts--I don't think it took any 'restraint' not to shoot--UNLESS they were actually 'hunting', and not looking to make a citizens arrest, as claimed-and I don't see drugs or alcohol playing a part, but I can't really rule it out either.

When you say you “poked your head inside”, does that mean you went inside and looked around for stuff to steal and then left?

Maybe it's natural to a young black man in Georgia.

You're trying to make out like it Arbery's fault, aren't you? The McMicheal's were actually the victims here, if Arbery hadn't stopped to look in that house, they'd still be watching old Dawg games and drinking beer, instead of being charged with murder. And then he had the nerve to fight back against the gun-totting rednecks that were pursuing him.

You would have seen me walk around, look around, and then leave. You tell me what my intent was... You seem good at that.

Yeah.. all these "maybes" and "what ifs". You don't have to be a certain skin color or live in a certain state to feel threatened when a stranger tracks you down and points a loaded rifle at you.

To be clear, you went inside, looked around and walked out? Did you happen to see any cameras inside the house?

So, the only method of self-defense is running away. OK

    And it's "bizarre."

You got it. Why does your second question matter? I confessed. Camera or not, I did it.

I know you're being flippant and not sure why you have to be flippant or obtuse if you know you're right. I can tell you, without being flippant, that I would not walk into a new construction house that was closed up and had a camera inside. Not because I'm afraid of being shot, but because I like my freedom. And anybody who watched the Arbery video knows he was looking for something to steal. You're simply deluding yourself if you think otherwise.

You do realize that no one's prosecuting the decedent, no?

He's dead. 'Self defense' I'm afraid, is not available to him.

....and if you think he played his cards well under the circumstances, I remind you:

    He's dead.

Going after someone with bare-fisted punches while they are pointing a loaded gun at you doesn't really qualify as "self-defense". I don't think there are any self-defense courses out there that will teach you "if you have nothing else, punch him in the face!" for that particular scenario. More accurately, it qualifies as foolish behavior and very likely something you would be taught NOT to do in a self-defense course.

Maybe you're right. I thought the guy in the truck also hit him in the back.

Yep, "he was just defending himself like anybody else would in that situation" doesn't really work here. Most sane people would do the opposite of what Arbery did there in that situation.

Of course, it's not. It is available to the McMichaels, though, and it seems like a couple of posters think that's a perfectly rational thing to do.

Now he's insane. An insane, life-long criminal casing a joint in broad daylight in a mostly-white community.o_O
