I actually listened to a podcast that stated that Difi did not investigate the claim because it would tip off Republicans on the committee about this claim. Difi wanted to know if the Democrats on the committee could hire a PI to investigate, but was told that requesting that would have to be shared with Grassley, so they did not do it.

Once again, someone is assuming that traumatic memories are created and stored in the same manner as mundane memories. There's a ton of research (google it) that shows that traumatic memories are processed by the amygdala, and stored differently---much better and more accurately/detailed---than traditional mundane ones. Your logical deduction works for normal memories, but not these kinds.

Well then, you're just annoying people...

Forgive me but that just strikes me as an annoying way of protesting that doesn't solve anything...

The people who disagree with you still won't like you... and will likely find it annoying...

All you're doing is virtue signaling to people who already agree with you... an action that is tremendously overvalued in today's society...

Because even if she drank and partied, that is no excuse to sexually assault her. Her drinking and partying could be used to discredit her credibility, but was she a heavy drinker and party person at 15? We know Kavanaugh and Judge were at 17.

But using her behavior to slut-shame her is a big reason why women don't come forward in the first place.

There's also studies that suggest that victims of traumatic events as evidenced by some others on this thread, are not necessarily the best witnesses by recollection...

You can't have both of those ideas...

Either they're the best witnesses and Ford should know more...

Or they're not the best witnesses and she needs help from other witnesses that need to come out and speak up...

There are a lot of Georgetown Prep graduates that are in powerful circles in DC. That is a vague description, but if you think that obviously narrows it down only to Kavanaugh, YDY.

None of her friends ever heard the name Kavanaugh until this July, as of right now, only her husband has stated she said it was Kavanaugh prior to this year.

Not sure what you're trying to imply by bringing up Gorsuch.

They were protesting Kavanaugh generally as being anti women's rights.... which they equate strongly with anti-abortion, abortion being a women's right from their POV.

As I noted before, protesters protest to raise attention to an issue. Protests are rarely pretty or nice for people in the space where the protest is occurring. They aren't intended to be.

If you want to claim inappropriate behavior or perhaps some illegal behavior. Sure. As evidenced by those who were arrested.

Blanket claims of mental illness and people being dangerous are just not supportable here. It's political hyperbole and name calling that has become entirely too normalized.

But Feinstein or someone on her staff had to have talked with Dr. Ford, and been in constant contact with her. There's no way Feinstein comes forward with the letter without someone vetting Dr. Ford, which includes talking to her. And it's likely that Dr. Ford asked Feinstein to do everything possible to keep Ford's anonymity. And none of this would be considered investigating the alleged assault.

And how many of these graduates are 2 years old older than Dr. Ford and have a best friend that fits the description of Judge to a T too?

So here once again your logic (bolded) is sound, excepting that you're not applying it full knowledge of the law.

Was the office a public forum under the law? If so, their first amendment was protected. Now honestly, I don't know if it was a public forum because I haven't been following it/know nothing about it. I'm assuming it was because it was the office of a public servant, in a public building, etc. etc. but... yeah.

I really think she should be sanctioned for her role in this.

Don't need to. Once again, you are revising facts. No one refused to investigate, no one refused to subpoena witnesses. She was given almost a week's notice to appear. Sorry but this whole process cannot and should not be scheduled to the wims of the Dems who could have opened this can of worms weeks ago if justice was what they were looking for. Instead they are just being opportunistic, as usual. Dr. Ford has put forward no credible evidence to be the basis for any subpoenas. Instead we have an accusation the an already investigated Supreme Court nominee attempted to rape her 36 years ago in a house that she cant remember, on a date that she doesn't remember, at a time she doesn't remember.

This coming from a highly partisan "victim", who has hooked with Democratic Operatives (which are a lower form of human life than politicians, and the ambulance chasing wing of your profession.

Is the white house a public forum? Don't ask me, I don't know. Gator_Lawyer probably does. I just want you to understand that there is more to it than what you know, as is obvious from your multiple postings. It very well could have been a non-public forum.

There will always be people who are annoyed with protests, that's nothing new. But many a time protests work.

But let me ask, what do you think of those trying to smear Blasey-Ford? Sure doesn't seem to be "virtue signaling" to me.

I doubt an office is a public forum...

It's a work space... It's not like people can just come in and out... and do and say whatever they want under the protection of the 1st Amendment....

Common sense would dictate it isn't a public forum...

If Dr. Ford asked Feinstein to protect Ford's anonymity as much as possible, it put Feinstein in a no-win situation. She can't submit the letter or investigate the claim without tipping the R's hand to the alleged assault. And as soon as the assault is alleged, the first question everyone wants to know is who is making the allegation. And rightfully so.

Everything Dr. Ford has done up to the release of the allegation has shown her not wanting the spotlight or the headaches that come with alleging a powerful person like Kavanaugh with sexual assault. Ford had to know the slut-shaming, etc. was coming her way, and she wanted to avoid it. Is it really that far out of the realm of possibility that Feinstein held off at the request of Ford until the 11th hour when both Feinstein and Ford felt they had no other recourse?

It's part of the no-win situation when coming forward with allegations such as these. There never is a good time, and many women fear they will receive the very treatment Ford has undergone, with the shaming, the questioning of her behavior, and the defense of the man from people who claim his life shouldn't be ruined over what he did as a teenager. As if any of this gives a teenage boy cover to sexually assault someone. Newsflash! It doesn't!

    Define smear...

    Threaten her, jump to conclusions?

I would say they are people doing something wrong or evil...
