We came into the year with Joseph, Reese, and Johnson all having experience. Johnson has been injured, but that's what happens in football. I'm not interested in excuses. I'm watching Shannon's scheming each week. It's majorly underwhelming. His entire defensive philosophy is unappealing to me. Furthermore, Shannon was the LB Coach prior to this year. Should he not receive blame for that position being so thin?

What goes around comes around. Go back read your post that prompted that response. If you want to act like a dick, I'm happy to reciprocate.

No it is not. A lot of these people in the UAA were here with the last two horrible coaches. If you go after Chip Kelly you don't plan to dictate assistants to him.

It was a simpler style of bend but don't break. unfortunately, offenses are more sophisticated at stressing defense's now. With the 4 coordinators since CS we were more multiple and our metrics reflected the aggressive edge.

Not saying dictate at all, and they shouldn't force him to keep anyone. But oversight and input, yes. Utilize all the resources available.

How many "hold up" theories are we going to have to endure? First it was some NFL buyout story. Unverified. Then it was that SS wanted to shock the world on his own timeline. Unverified. Then it was that we gave him a window to look around. Unverified. Now it's because we are fighting over assistants. Unverified.

I hear you but I just don't think you do that kind of stuff with a star like Kelly, given where Florida football is at currently. You bring in a guy like this to give him the keys and completely rebuild the program, not to micromanage his staff decisions.

  11. I reiterate, if the assistants thing is true, it is a DELIBERATE POISON PILL.

You put that in to drive the candidate AWAY while trying to make it appear that you went all-out to get him. It implies that you were not very keen on the guy from the get-go and you are more interested in PR games.

Chip Kelly is the very last person in the world who would ever countenance such a thing. He would laugh them out the door.

I believe some people behind the scenes are trying to manipulate this hire to their own desired outcome while making it look like "we had no choice".

I’ve never had sources. But I am gonna be optimistic cuz I believe what my best friends tilly and bentrillgriffin are saying. If football had had me negative for years. Time to be positive

Well, we were fortunate to have Muschamp's defense, even if that meant he was the head coach. I have nothing against Collins but Muschamp recruited the hell out of the defensive players that were all pretty much gone at the end of last season. Take that however you want to take it. I now Shannon is one of the most respected guys in the business and he has done right by UF. And before you comment on the respect thing, you dont become respected in the business without knowing what you are doing and being good at it.

    Inside your head.
A little deductive reasoning. The loud silence from the UAA and Slat Slimjim is instructive.
    A. The deal is done and there is an order for radio silence until late Saturday or Sunday from the AD. This will set up a Sunday presser with CK in attendance and allow him to spend a peaceful Thanksgiving with friends and family. I think this is the winner.
    B. There are minor details to work out between the parties and the UAA/AD is mandating a no leak policy until they are worked out. These could include monetary considerations, control of hiring and firing, facilities upgrades etc. I don't think this is plausible because these would have been settled before any contract signing.
    C. There is no signed contract and the aforementioned considerations are being negotiated and lips are sealed until all is settled. Possible but not likely.
    D. The UCLA deal is for real and Scrod Slagmeister is scrambling to get plan B/C in place. This would also explain the Twitter silence. Plausible but not probable due to the fact that there have been no leaks from the other end. There are always leaks somewhere when you don't have control of the other end.
I could do an E,F, and G but I'll hang my hat on A. The eerie silence everywhere East of the Mississippi river tells me that Chip Kelly has signed the deal and he and Slick Schicklegruber are going to be standing at the podium sometime this weekend.

Was their a better candidate then Mac when we hired him? I don’t recall who else was looking for a coach in 2014 but I assume UF was the top job

Doesn’t matter how he compares to Chip now....he was best looking gal in an ugly beauty contest

Finally, somebody gets it. Problems with defense is Shannon's recruiting. Everybody talks about his recruiting, and yet not one big time recruit since he's been here.
