Like any teachers from New York or California want to teach in this bastion of repressive thought. It seems to me that it's unconstitutional, illegal, and given OK's teacher shortage, counter-productive. Not to mention, it subordinates competence to ideology, never a good idea.

Oklahoma will test some incoming teachers with ‘America-first’ exam
Candidates from California and New York must pass a 50-question test to qualify to teach in Oklahoma, state Superintendent Ryan Walters said.

“We’re not bringing in woke indoctrinators into the classroom,” Walters told The Washington Post on Monday, adding, “It’s a very America-first approach.”

So much wrong with this. Walters doesn't "get," America, at all.

I don't know. There's some toughies on there:

    3. What are the two parts of the U.S. Congress?
    A. House of Lords and Commons
    B. Courts and Senate
    C. Executive and Legislative
    D. Senate and House of Representatives

Of course, that's just the civics part of the test. OK hasn't provided a sample of the gender identity questions yet.

When we were in the military, our kids attended schools in 5 states. New York was, by far, the most academically rigorous. If OK really wanted the best education for their children, they would seek the most qualified, not the most politically pure. Without naming names, this is dangerous territory.

I don’t think Pornmaster himself Ryan Walters has to worry about any teachers moving from Cali or NY moving to the crap hole that is Oklahoma anytime soon. I’m sure he thinks they’re all just lining up for crap pay to indoctrinate children with the Bible, though. Worry more about that 50th ranking in education due to your trash policies, bro.

Can we talk about how stupid it is to test people incoming from specific states only? Are we that stupid now that NY/CA = lib? They are gonna test the person from upstate NY but not Austin, TX? Even then its stupid to assume anything based on where someone was living, no state/city/town is homogenous lol.

California and New York comprised over 12% of Trump's total voting body in 2024.

I was hoping you would weigh in, Oklahoma. Is Walters operating under a general consensus mandate, or is he a rogue culture warrior?

He is not liked by the teachers that's for sure. I would say more of a rogue guy with higher political ambitions.

    Right here
Lunacy. Relatedly, I posted a few months ago that Oklahoma now requires that high school students identify discrepancies in the 2020 election.

It says students must "Identify discrepancies in 2020 elections results by looking at graphs and other information, including the sudden halting of ballot-counting in select cities and in key battleground states, the security risks of mail-in balloting, sudden batch dumps, an unforeseen record number of voters, and the unprecedented contradiction of 'bellwether county' trends."

Seems discriminatory. NY, btw, is one of only four states that require a master's degree for teachers.

Looks like NY & CA are among the best states for teachers to work in. Where's OK? Hint: Maybe they need to clean up their own backyard.
The Top 20 States for Teachers in 2025

I'm looking for best states for teacher prep, but can't find anything yet. Given that CA has some of the best universities, I imagine it's a good state.

You make a good point about his political ambitions. Ambition makes some people really crank up the crazy, doesn't it? "Look at me! Look at me!"

This test could be tricky. For instance, what would the regime consider the correct ans here?
Is the government taking 10% of Intel
    A. Communism
    B. America First
