Why are the "sigma males" of the right so scared of their own shadow?

"Don't tread on me" somehow equates to "Please deploy troops to American cities like North Korea"

I was going to post about this. Many people watch Fox News all day, every day (or Newsmax, etc.), which frequently shows and discusses violent incidents. They run clips like the attack in Cincinnati on a loop for hours. It’s natural for viewers to feel fearful—and to buy more guns, carry them, scared of cities etc. it’s natural if someone watches all that.

Thank you, exactly!!! X is not a good source to base one’s understanding. There are bots, and state run troll farms disseminating false info.

You know this is going to be appealed and the Trump Admin is likely going to win, correct?

I do not agree with everything the Trump Admin is doing but under the law any POTUS Admin has the legal right to overrule DC Home Rule for 30 days since it is the only city in the country that fall under the federal government by design?

I understand and agree with many of the arguments against why what the Trump Admin is doing is and how it is not a long term solution to the issues they cite for invoking the emergency powers. But I think a lot of posters should pay attention to Mayor Bowser's statements earlier in the week about how the Admin has the right to do it.

I just wish everyone involved would say that this is a 30 day emergency order and that they will see if there are any significant differences in DC at the end of the 30 days. At that point Congress has to get involved and I seriously doubt it will they will vote to extend it.

I think this earlier post pretty much explains your question.
Most are not that afraid for themselves but for their loved ones. That said I'm not one to go looking for trouble but if it is just me in most cases I will stand my ground. I'm for sure not going to move my loved ones into a bad area. Does that make me some kind of a puss who is scared of his own shadow?

DEA agents were patrolling the Wharf last night. DEA. What a waste of resources

“They just don’t believe the president cares — at least not about them. If he did, they asked, why are residents hearing of federal agents roving the whiter areas of 16th Street Northwest but less so in their largely Black neighborhood? Why are National Guard members posing with tourists at the Washington Monument?

“If Trump is genuinely concerned about safety of D.C. residents, I would see National Guard in my neighborhood,” said Karen Lake, 62, a lawyer who has lived in Congress Heights since 2017, in the far eastern corner of the diamond-shaped district. “I’m not seeing it, and I don’t expect to see it. I don’t think Trump is bringing in the National Guard to protect Black babies in Southeast.”

Just came back from visiting my favorite liquor store in DC. Saw a homeless dude panhandling at the Key Bridge intersection with M Street.

Did not see any real difference than from the last time I went two weeks ago.

Unless some undesirable element decides to be so obliging as to throw a big "Welcome to DC!," riot for the NG, I doubt you will.

This is Trump cosplaying a military commander.

While acknowledging that there are areas in DC with a serious crime problem I do not see how having unarmed National Guard troops patrolling in a very low crime area like the National Mall or setting up checkpoints in low crime neighborhoods is really going to address problem of crime in the District. I would also add that two things can be true specifically that while DC experienced a significant drop in its homicide rate from 2023 to 2024 and the level of violent crime in the District is the lowest it's been in decades there could still be a problem with crime in some neighborhoods primarily in Southeast DC.
