Trump manages to unite the world--is it time for his Noble Peace Prize yet? The world (in general) and Europe (specifically) has united in its disgust regarding Trump's kowtowing to Vlad Putin. French president Macron practically slapped Trump across the face with a baguette wrapped in a crepe. Trump Left Fuming After World Leaders Gang Up on Him Over Putin | The New Republic
Biden's strategy was to force Russia to the bargaining table by providing enough military aid to Ukraine to make continuation of the war too costly for Russia. After essentially cutting off all US aid to Ukraine for several months Trump is pursuing a similar strategy albeit on a smaller scale and pressuring the European countries to foot more of the bill for the US aid. Although I hope it will not happen I still wouldn't put it beyond Trump to go all Neville Chamberlain and sell Ukraine down the river so that he can claim that he negotiated a peace agreement and then once again float the narrative that he is deserving of the Nobel Peace Prize. His one impediment to doing so is Zelensky who would never agree even if Trump threatens to cut off US aid once again.
I guess not everyone was on board. Talks on landmark plastic pollution treaty end without an agreement
Every day it's another democrat acknowledging through their words and/or actions the potus is correct: Dem Governor Declares Crime Emergency in Her State — Days After Blasting Trump for 'Overreach' in DC New Mexico's Democratic Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham declared a crime emergency in certain areas of her state just two days after publicly criticizing President Donald Trump for federalizing the police in Washington, D.C. She even authorized the use f National Guard troops if necessary. Following Trump's takeover of D.C.'s local law enforcement operations earlier this week, Lujan Grisham put out a joint statement with Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller, accusing the president of "making unilateral decisions that appear politically motivated." "His deployment of 800 National Guard troops to Washington, D.C., without local request or coordination demonstrates a fundamental misunderstanding of effective public safety strategy," the statement continued. "President Trump’s massive executive overreach in Washington sets a dangerous precedent and undermines safety in our nation’s capital."
MAGA knows the Ukrainian government would not exist if it were not for American taxpayers, willing/unwilling to float the bill. MAGA knows the Ukrainian government is about as corrupt as they get. Trump would be more than happy to sell out the Ukrainian government, but not its people. MAGA does not like to see the loss of life in war, the waste of money, or the destruction of cities. We just want the war to end, Ukrainians to go back to their country, and have a free/fair election. We shall see. In the original article, there were two observations. My guess is they end up somewhere in the middle. There is a lot of waste. There are things we could easily get rid of, like plastic bags at grocery stores and plastic water bottles. Plus, we don't need to waste our natural resources on products that are easily replaced with environmentally friendly products. This is effective and practical. 1. Chris Jahn, president and CEO of the American Chemistry Council, said the Trump administration is trying to get an agreement that protects each nation’s rights while advancing effective and practical solutions to end plastic waste in the environment. He said his group supports that approach. 2. Graham Forbes, head of the Greenpeace delegation in Geneva, said the United States wants a weak agreement and is undermining the idea that the world needs strong international regulations to address a global problem.
I doubt most MAGAs even 'know' where Ukraine is on a map. Anything else they 'know' about Ukraine is whatever Trump and right-wing media have told them.
And could the increase in retail sales in July be at least partially attributable to consumers moving up spending for items that they would purchase later to avoid tariffs scheduled to go into effect in August? From July 23rd. Back to school shopping is starting earlier with tariff worries
Never let the facts get in the way of a narrative? | "APRIL 9, 2024 CHANGING PARTISAN COALITIONS IN A POLITICALLY DIVIDED NATION 4. Age, generational cohorts and party identification Today, age is strongly associated with partisanship – and this pattern has been in place for more than a decade. The Democratic Party holds a substantial edge among younger voters, while the Republican Party has the advantage among the oldest groups."
I'm pleased with increased values in the stock market. That being said by definition markets are at their peak just before a bubble bursts. This article is from December 2007 when the stock market was also reaching record highs. A year later the Dow had lost around 40% of its value. Business Week 2008 Forecasters Expect Further Gains
A 0.5% increase in retail sales is a fairly weak number. And it didn't even hit the expectation which was 0.6%.
And that is exactly what I said in response to a post that MAGAs don't even know where Ukraine is. That most Dems were not even born when the USSR split up.
Forget about politics or who is president. Over time, this chart has never lost, even if the baseline number has risen some with more access to the stock market. Shiller PE Ratio - Multpl a large correction is coming, just a question of when, and over what time period. It could be one massive downturn, or a decade of mediocre or no returns to get back in line. But it’s a near inevitability, even if it’s potentially still out on the horizon.
