We all know in 2018 there was no crime in DC since dear leader was Pres. and didn;t call in the National Guard. Oh wait.... sorry the actual crime rate in DC was higher then. We need the Guard now because..... LOOK Maga, shiny, no Epstein.
There have been reports from MPD Officers that when they are at a crime scene for a felony, a Capt or LT will show up and tell them to find a lesser charge to go with. The thing I do not think posters on this board get is that 2020 Defund the Police in favor of diversionary programs and social workers, etc is still alive and well in DC. And the DC Chief of Police did not inspire confidence when she said "What is that?" when asked about what her Chain of Command is now and the Mayor had to step in and answer for her.
I'm sorry but this is just not a believable political argument. Donald Trump has been investigated more than any person since probably Al Capone. As I think Jonah Goldberg pointed out, the Democrats threw plates and plates of legal spaghetti up against the wall against Trump to see what could stick. It took NYC AG Bragg coming up with a novel legal theory to finally be able to bring charges against Trump for hush money payments and get him to trial before the election. The the former #3 at the Biden DoJ joined that team during the trial. And you think that Trump is in the Epstein Files and there is evidence that he did something illegal and the Biden DoJ did not charge him for it? This is like the Steele Dossier when people on here were claiming that Steele was a top MI6 agent and only he would be able to find out the Trump Campaign was colluding with Russia. Meanwhile, those of us that worked in the IC kept trying to point out that if that were happening like Steele claimed, there would have been a ton of collection on it by the US IC and NATO IC and we would have known about it by the time the ICA on Russia came out. But we were told we were just Trump apologists and MAGA and should just wait for the truth to come out.
This is a perfect example of what I was saying. Just pointing out that the political arguments against Trump are misplaced or wrong somehow makes one MAGA on this board. I get that someone working as professor in music at university is likely not going to agree with me politically but at least be able to have a honest conversation about politics instead of resorting to name calling.
Not much chance of that in those cities but we did elect a POTUS and Governor to help deal with the issue. If FL doesn't have enough state police to spare DeSantis needs to consider letting the guard be activated in a few places to free up law enforcement to arrest more of these criminals.
At a federal level, Mueller concluded that he committed multiple offenses of obstruction of justice but couldn't be charged because of the OLC memo protecting the sitting president. He was indicted on two separate incidents by Jack Smith, one of which was slow walked and tossed by a judge Trump himself appointed and the other one ended when Trump was elected president. He wasn't exonerated in any of those, and if he were literally any other person in the country, would have very likely been found guilty in all three of those incidents.
None of that is what is in the Steele Dossier. The FBI ultimately determined the Steele Dossier was bunk after they identified the subsource for the Steele Dossier to be a suspected Russian spy, who made up the juicy parts of the Steele Dossier that had Trump colluding with the Russians through Carter Page.
I agree you're not MAGA and, to me, being called MAGA would be a huge insult. But you sure are defending Trump's military takeover of DC. Doesn't make sense to me.
I'm not defending it. I've said it is likely a mistake. The park next to my office in Arlington is filling up with homeless folks that are leaving DC. I'm sure they will be back over in DC in a month. The question is whether or not the Feds can make a big enough impression on some of the trouble makers in 30 days by getting them off the street with federal charges. I have my doubts that 30 days is long enough. What I've been highlighting is the DC Mayor and City Council's refusal to change any policies that have lead DC to be in the state it is in now. DC is not as safe as it once was and it is stupid for Democrats to be trying to argue it is not a real issue and it is made up. Instead of doing that, Democrats should be saying crime in DC is a problem and pushing the Republican Congress for funding for more MPD. The reason they do not is because the DC City Council is not interested in changing their strategy on combating crime.
