High prices for food, transportation have a much more prominent role in disposable income for the bottom 20%. Rent is a huge issue and is actually the largest expense.
How exactly are high interest rates keeping poor people poor? Do poor people need to borrow a lot of money for some reason? I can think of a lot of reasons that poor people are poor, but high interest rates is not one of them, unless they are spending on credit cards that they can't pay off, or have student loans (even though most poor people do not go to college). Many poor people rent apartments, and do not have a mortgage. They may have a car loan, but that loan should not be what keeps them poor. Reasons I can think of include: * - Minimum wage not being raised in 18 years, while regular inflation has increased prices by 80% or more during that time. * - High tariffs create a special category of inflation, raising prices on top of regular inflation. * - Immigration policies of current administration are pushing out workers who provide affordable food and shelter (home construction & repair) for Americans, driving costs up. Even if they are renters, if the landlord replaces the roof, he will pass on that cost on to the renters.

There is zero chance that Trump ends the fighting in Ukraine, unless he starts sending massive amounts of military aid to Ukraine, which he is very unlikely to do. All Trump is doing is pretending to be a mediator (while issuing empty threats), so that if peace somehow breaks out in the next three years, he can try to take credit for it. Biden has done far more to end this war than Trump has (although Biden did not do nearly enough, IMO). If you want to see "The Nonsense", just tune in to Trump bragging about his negotiating skills, even though he has little or no success to show for his efforts.
