^ Precisely. The only thing interesting about this is how many MAGAphiles are OK with it.

It can't be considered "surprising", of course, because these are people who have no problem with Trump's criminal conspiracy to overturn an election- probably the most un-American act since the Civil War.

But Donald Trump was really really good on The Apprentice, so he should illegally assume control of the DC police force.

Keep looking the other way and ignore the obvious. He sent Military into LA just in June, now DC. I heard there was a carjacking in Tysons Corner last week so he'll need to extend the Guard out there and there was an assault in Chevy Chase so there too?

When the union (last line of defense for bad cops) accuses you of cooking the books, you're screwed. Both an assistant chief and the police union accused the department of deliberately falsifying crime data.

So true. But to be fair, if there is one thing that Trump knows about, it’s crime and corruption. He should put as much effort into finding those Epstein files.

And showmanship. I'll give him that. Trump knows a lot about showmanship.

Oh, well, North Carolina's not that far from DC.

Is geography the only reason you think he wouldn't involve the military? Are you active duty, if I might ask? And do the Marines follow Navy ranking conventions, ie, are Marine captains colonels?

I would add that those stats are from 2022. This is more recent and more relevant:

Would the reason Maga believes the crime rate is so high in DC because.... there's a felon living in the White House?

I'm not sure about the relevance of the crime rate in Calgary when the subject of this thread is DC. Maybe it is relevant since Calgary could become a city in the 51st US state.

Why the distraction from releasing the files?

Although it should be obvious Trump's focus on DC is another attempt by him and Pam Blondi (misspelling intended) to deflect from the coverage of the Epstein files and what triggered Trump on the issue was an attempted of hijacking of one of Elon's DOGE boys specifically the guy who has referred to himself as "big balls".

The DOJ tried to get the grand jury files released and a federal judge said no today.

And there were very good reason why he elected not to so. Among them was the fact the files would not have added to public knowledge on the Epstein/Maxwell cases and that Maxwell still has a pending appeal and that if the grand jury files were released it could prejudice her if she is granted a new trial. The DOJ request was nothing more than a stunt to demonstrate that it was trying obtain information on Epstein when everything in those files could be obtained from Maxwell's trial transcript.

    According to Grok

No, the grand jury testimony isn't the full scope—it's mainly victim statements from the 2006 Florida case, not all evidence like FBI-seized items from 2019. That jury likely didn't see alleged blackmail videos; reports of hidden cameras exist

Good to see POTUS really wanting to clean up the mess Democrats have created there in DC.

Why does the DOJ need to ask a judge to release grand jury files when the DOJ has tons of files it could release without a judges approval? DOJ said it would release the files back in February. Why haven't they?

I can't wait until we have a POTUS that can clean up the mess in the WH that this current admin is creating

Geography will play a part but the question likely falls to authorities and the NG has more to work with as a Title 32 force. No longer active duty. And no, we do not follow the Navy rank conventions. We have the same as the Army. Can cause some confusion every now and then.
