The first few seasons Ruth was a Yankee they played at the Polo Grounds. IIRC the Yankees and Giants played a World Series with every game at the Polo Grounds. But I have a feeling that he isn't the guy.

You would be right. Hint: He was good on the base paths.

    Lou Brock? Really?

Added in edit: Mantle and Mays were decent base runners but played in an era where stealing bases was not a huge deal. Mays played in the Polo Grounds but I was told it wasn't him. And I don't think that Mantle ever played there. Rickey Henderson was a great base stealer with home run power but he was too young to have ever played at the Polo Grounds.

Lou Brock is the obvious guess.

And I would NEVER have guessed that without the hint.

Everybody knows about the White Sox forfeiting the second game of a twilight doubleheader with Disco Demolition. There is a very good Netflix documentary about Bill Veeck's son as he was the guy that promoted it.

But that was not the last MLB game to end in a forfeit. Who had to forfeit that last time?

I don't recall the teams but I remember fans threw balls on the field. Maybe the Giants were involved.

I remember this. It was funny to me because of what happened to end the game with the forfeit rule. Baseballs were thrown onto the field interrupting play. Then the funny part (especially with the way attention to umpiring (balls and strikes) has become an issue in practically every game).

A batter for the home team was called out on strikes—he argued and was ejected—the manager then was ejected causing the second wave of baseballs to be thrown onto the field. This stoppage of play caused the rule of forfeit due to concerns about player safety.

Imagine fans getting upset about ol’blue’s strike zone. Then they throw balls on the field. Now they bombard Ticky Tock.:D

The game was Dodgers and Cardinals, I’m pretty sure in 1995.
