Between 246 and 702 people died because the power was out. (I didn't know I would have to read the Wikipedia article to you because you couldn't make it through the first paragraph.) The power was out, as determined by experts who reviewed the incident, because they had no plans to winterize the system. Winterizing a system that has water in it (which is used to make something called "steam", which is used to drive something called a "turbine", which generates something called "electricity"), is a basic requirement of any industrial facility that handles water and can be exposed to sub-freezing temperatures. When water freezes, it expands, and pipes crack open. If you need water to flow in sub-zero temperatures, you have to heat-trace and insulate the piping, and check the weather-proofing to see if it needs to be replaced or re-caulked. Pipes with water that have no flow should be drained out. Texas did little or none of that. IOW, Texas is managed by imbeciles.
More winning. Russian nationalists are hoping that, with Putin's upcoming visit to Alaska to meet with Trump, that Russia will be able to buy Alaska back from the U.S. So the question is: will the most ignorant and incompetent president in a American history (with all due respect to Andrew Jackson and Andrew Johnson), and one of the worst businessmen in America today, sell Alaska to Russia, a country with a severe cash shortage? Will Trump sell it back to his master for the $7.2 million they paid for it, plus 10% profit? Or will he hold out for 15% profit? Will Putin be able to pay the bill with surplus AK-47's and WWII tanks, slightly damaged? Or would Trump accept payment in Russian cryptocurrency? Or does Trump have his eye on some Faberge eggs that he can take with him when he leaves the White House? The second question is: would Trump be courageous enough to have his master seized and sent to the Hague for trial for war crimes? I'm guessing that the arrest warrant the Hague issued is still valid and creates an obligation for the U.S. to arrest Putin and forward him to the Hague, unless Trump pulled the U.S. out of its Geneva Convention responsibilities. Trump invites Putin to Alaska, which Russian nationalists want back

Did you even read this article? About the only thing praise worthy is that they didn’t pull out of the talks entirely. But the article frames it as U.S. is basically there to try and water down any global agreement. I don’t doubt it.
Trump does anything, no matter what it is or the details behind it, and it’s “winning” to his supporters. “He kept his promise to pass this awful bill that’s going to actively screw over Americans!” Winning!
More winning! A top pollster indicates that America is getting tired of someone named "Donald Trump". In hypothetical races involving a democrat and a republican, Americans are starting to think that the democrat would be a better choice. Does not bode well for the republicans in the mid-terms. A similar poll in the spring had the democrats with a 2% lead over the republicans. The summer poll has the democrats with a 5% lead over the republicans. With over a year to go before the mid-terms, and the democrats building a 3% lead over the republicans every quarter, the democrats should win the mid-term elections by 20% if Trump continues his idiocy. Multiple other polls are showing similar results. "Landslide! Rocks are fallin'!" Trump is going to tariff and ICE his own party into irrelevance. The mid-term election in 2026 could produce the first democrat super-majority (2/3rds) in both houses of Congress since 1967. How embarrassing for MAGA supporters. How humiliating for Trump. Almost like a kick in the nuts for U.S. authoritarianism. ‘Uh oh!’: Top pollster just exposed what Trump fears most
More winning! Trump inspires former Georgia Lt. Governor to give up on the republican party and become a democrat. Trump is not happy that politicians are not falling for his scam, and is calling him a "total loser". How pathetic. It must be hard when the con-game falls apart in the middle of the con. Duncan should do a version of the Charlie Daniels Band "Devil Went Down to Georgia", except claim that the Devil was looking for an election to steal. Trump lashes out after (another) Republican joins Democratic Party: ‘Total loser!’
Winning! Trump has committed an unforgivable sin, according to a polling group. No, not the rapes, the child molesting, the tax cheating, the grifting, the grafting, or the human rights violations. Trump's unforgivable sin is his ineptitude--his incompetence as president. And that's why he's polling at 37% and dropping like a rock. Apparently, slapping tariffs on a tiny island with no human inhabitants was a bit too idiotic even for some republicans to accept. Trump’s Unforgivable Sin
I’ve said this a few times, Trump completely misunderstood his mandate. He was largely elected for the economy nit all the other nonsense he has spent his first 6 months obsessed with, and it’s the one thing he is largely ignoring. And the one thing he is doing about it, his bizarre tariff fights, are doing far more harm than good.
I would also say that Trump could claim a mandate to get rid of any crime and drug smuggling by immigrants, even though the immigrants are, on average, better behaved than American citizens, and may in fact be necessary for America's survival*. * - Unless America wants to eat only things that come out of a Kraft factory (think mac & cheese, no meat, no fruits or vegetables) and live in houses with ever growing roof leaks.
I think that you are partially right. An increased share of independent voters bought into his lies about the economy. (I guess they bought into his lie that drilling for oil would lower inflation.) I think for his core of die-hard supporters, the big thing was just continuing to encourage them to feel aggrieved, to hate, and to seek out an Other to blame. (Immigrants, DEI, transgenders.) ^ He'll NEVER lose their support, even if he attacks the United States, or is obviously part of a pedophile ring or cover up. As we've clearly seen.
Plastics pollution into our oceans is 100% preventable, and we have to effectuate that dilemma. And with countries like Mexico and other countries in the south Pacific polluting our oceans with toxic chemicals it is paramount to stop that from happening as well. For me the trifecta of MAN MADE environmental disasters that must be fixed is the deforestation around the world. The Earth gets the same Sunlight, and the same amount of water evaporates into the skies... with the same amount of rain that comes down... only without the foliage in these forests/rainforests to absorb all that rain we get weather patterns (floods) of biblical devastation... all over the world. These 3 things are the easiest to prevent, and we must do our best to stop this pollution and the deforestation devastation to our environment. EDITED: Only a "jo" would laugh at this post.
This slavish Trump guy is talking about combating ..... re-reads post ..... man-made environmental disasters? Parody, right? When will the facade drop and we can all celebrate and salute you? It's just too much, if not parody. I mean, what could possibly be more funny and ironic than Trump supporters claiming support for the environment? Claiming to love America, support law enforcement or honor families? I can't take it any more.
Poster speaks of platitudes but here's the brunt of dear leader's action on the EPA : Zack Colman, Politico: "This is the most sweeping rollback of environmental rules in the nation's history. We're talking about going back to the 1970s era, where these rules didn't even exist yet. So this is erasing decades of — potentially erasing decades of climate and air pollution rules." Where does that line up with poster's "talk" in post #513?
