Anti-LGBT activist sentenced for attempted bombing of The Satanic Temple

    Details are being released about last year's attempted bombing of the Satanic Temple in Massachusetts. Turns out, the guy was motivated by the Satanic Temple's tolerance of gay people. I've met quite a few Satanists, including one of my best friends, and they are kind, loving, intelligent, non-violent, folks who treat all people with respect. Thank Satan that no one was injured and for bringing this hate-filled criminal to justice.

    A Grant, Michigan, man has been sentenced to prison after making homemade explosive devices that he planned to use to blow up the headquarters of The Satanic Temple in Salem, Massachusetts, for promoting LGBTQ+ rights.

    Luke Isaac Terpstra, 31, who pleaded guilty in April, was sentenced in Grand Rapids on July 31 to three years in federal prison for possession of an unregistered destructive device.

    "He told officers that he drove out to Salem and went to the temple, which he described as a fancy house that was barred up with fences all around it. He drove out there 'with my bombs and my guns' in his Toyota Camry," the memorandum said. "He said he also brought mason jars, pipe bombs, and Tannerite (a binary explosive). He told investigators that the guns were 'in case there was someone there' at the temple, while the bombs were designed more to burn the building down rather than blow it up.

    "That said, he also agreed with investigators that the bombs had a lot of intended shrapnel, which obviously would have increased the dangerousness of any explosion," the document said.

    They have several of us on block. I at least let them out of "ignore" jail from time to time, but the recidivism is insane...

    So...now we're letting Devil worshiping become a sanctioned thing in our country? What could possibly go wrong with that?

    Some of our rights in the Constitution come from a higher power. Those evil people might even say it's from Satan? I say nip this in the bud right now.

    The Constitution isn't specific on which higher power. The hand of Satan may have saved these beautiful people and brought Justice to their deranged assailant. Let's remember who the true victims are here, and not turn this into another Christian victimization thread...stay on topic.

    Name one Satan worshiper that had a hand in the Constitution? Name the Christians...

    Doesn't matter... The Constitution says freedom of religion. Period. Respect the constitution and the Christians who wrote it. Can't believe you are defending the deranged bomber of a religious institution while also playing up the "Imma good Christian" act.

    And that's where we are... Is worshiping Satan a religion? I think we need a precise definition of "religion" to figure that out. But leaving out the fact that virtually all the signers of the Constitution were Christians and that is self-evident.

    As much I disagree with it, Satanism (I think that is the correct term) is as much of a religion or practice or belief system as Christianity is to others, or Islam, or Hinduism, Taoism, (and the list can go on for a good while)...
    In the end, we go back to the original meaning of the poster's topic which is that sicko tried to do is absolutely inexcusable and disgusting. If he tried to do it there or anywhere, there is no room in this world for that type of hatred, thoughts, or attempted laid out plans.

    As I understand it, they don’t actually worship the devil, but even if they did, the First Amendment still applies. How would you legally nip this in the bud? Also, the Founders could have made Christianity the law of the land but didn’t. And if only some Constitutional rights come from a higher power, where do the rest come from? If a church leader wants to repeal women’s suffrage (19th Amendment), is that a God-given right too or not?

    Yeah, I don’t get it. It’s likely not something I even wish to have in my google history…
    But if they’re not hurting others, making no plans to do so…they have the right to worship.
    The dude who drove out there with guns and bombs is a crazy ass loon.

    No. That would never work.

    Fake Christians do evil from time to time and we don't need the government banning things because of those evildoers.

    And what this guy did was pure evil.

    For Christians to truly remain free, then all religions have to remain free. The ramifications are terrible if you do otherwise.

    As a Christian, I don't want the whims of evil politicians choosing what is or is not worthy of freedom. Because you might get different religions banned every 4 years.

    Christianity shouldn't be political. Jesus was pretty clear. (Render unto Caesar.)

    Jesus died for you, me, wardamn, and every Satanist in that temple.
