There HAVE to be some quality wins. LSU, Miami, Texas, Georgia. I despise each of those 4. Beat Miami and Georgia, if picking 2 and going for split.

I hope it doesn't need come to this, but an interim president hired SOS and overrode the AD's wishes to do so.

IMO 7-5 will keep Napier as our head coach...
Depending on how it plays out of course...

Probably true, but would be an awful decision IMO and just prolong rank mediocrity (or worse).

The Miami game seems so important. I feel like we gotta win that one.

I think 7-5 is probably worst case scenario for the reason you name but I also think the new reality of college football is there is more parity among the top 30 teams than there has been in the history of the sport. Maybe we can get a Cignetti, or maybe we should prepare for a dog fight for relevance indefinitely.

Our schedule is brutal. 4 of our opponents are in the top 10. We can be 5-7 and still be better than a lot of other teams.

JMHO, all I can add to many of the takes is, what is the makeup of the QB and D-line situation? If Lagway is hurt a lot, does Stricklin give him a pass because he didn't have a viable Plan B? And if the D-line is jinxed, that means Lagway and Co. has to rally to score even more points and not shoot themselves in the foot.

To me, an absolute minimum is 8 wins with mainly healthy pieces. This team, when healthy, should be able to win 10 games, although the ball can bounce funny.

Yeah. I just don’t think we can afford to have this season start like last. I knew we were limited offensively in the passing game and the roster wasn’t as experienced. No such excuses this year.

If true, that's a pretty sad commentary on the program's expectations. Hopefully, we don't have to find out.

College football has gone to a playoff system. Success is making the playoffs. If we get there after our schedule we will also already know we do not need to fear any opponent because we had already faced so many already.

With the road games, this year's schedule may be tougher than last year. I'd be happy with 4-4. The key is OOC games.

Maybe we could get a Cignetti sch. That should get us nine easy wins.
