AR vs Daniel Jones

Definitely can’t read a defense.

 

The number one trait of a qb and cant really be taught. The diagrams can but if theability to process is not, its futile. Spurrier was a great mind but he had the ability to to see a qbs mental makeup.

 

His accuracy on short passes were pretty bad.

 

If he can get healthy and make it through 6 regular season games,we will know if he really has what it takes at the NFL level.

 

Yes- and our Kentucky game in 22 said it all...

To refresh- we had just beaten Utah and AR was a superstar-the toast of the town. We had a new coach and AR was going to finally get to play after Mullen kept him on the bench sitting behind Emory Jones.

Then lowly Kentucky came to town-..
But instead of letting AR run wild, they made him read the field, and ate his lunch. He had to see the field and process- and he couldn't do it.
Oh- that Kentucky team lost to Tennessee 44-6 and also lost to Vandy and USCe. They were not world beaters.

I'm not sure why the NFL didn't have access to the Kentucky game film- but apparently they did not and the Colts took him #5.

But maybe AR will someday learn to read the field. If he does he will be dangerous.

 

I went to the 22 KY game with my son. Talk about letting the air out of the balloon. Ky absolutely schooled UF/AR, it got so bad, and AR's confidence was so rattled, I don't think he could have completed a 15 yard pass with no KY defense on the field. (Against air, as they say). While that may have been the low point of the season for AR, and I hate to pick on him, I knew that UF was in for a long season and that's exactly how it turned out. I have seldom witnessed a more disappointing Gator performance. I thought after UTAH the Gators might make some waves but that was fools gold.

 

Training camp workout over the weekend spells bad news for AR. They went with short yardage, RZ offense and AR was lobbing grenades all over the place while DJ hit almost everything. This has been AR's weakest trait, short yardage RZ offense. If I'm running a defense, and I know AR is the QB and they are closing in on the RZ, I might just give them the yards and get AR inside his kryptonite zone and have them end up attempting a FG or maybe get lucky and get a turnover. Why is it that RZ is so awful for him? It's a spot where you have to make lightning quick decisions or else the tiny window closes on you. His primary weakness is the lack of reading a defense and I don't care how gifted you are, if you can't read a defense, you are no better than Mr. Magoo.

 

For some strange reason, these nfl proft confuse combine performance with the ability to play qb. Its worlds apart.

 

If youre a bad RZ qb, youre a bad qb.
