He claims it's become one of the most dangerous cities in the world, which is wrong of course. I guess we'll see Monday what his plans are for even more federal power.

That’s comparing DC to states, not other cities.

Well, good then, no need to ever make them a state with that kind of murder problem.

Nothing the "small government right" wants more than a police state apparently.

In terms of overall crime I don't even think DC is in the top 50

that is from 2022. Any more recent?

Violent crime in D.C. dropped by 35% between 2023 and 2024, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for D.C. said in December, stating that there were 3,388 incidents last year compared to 5,215 incidents the year before.

Crimes that saw significant drops last year included homicide, which was down 30%, sexual abuse down 22% and assault with a dangerous weapon down 27%. Robberies and burglaries slightly dropped to 8% for both”

That’s like saying cheating at FSU hits a 30 year low. It may be an improvement, but if they can’t do that for 2-3 more years the place is still dangerous.

“It is more violent than Baghdad, it is more violent than parts of Ethiopia, and parts of many of the most dangerous places in the world,” Miller told NewsNation, The Hill’s sister network.

You honestly believe this? Have you been to DC?

Vs other large cities? It’s been awhile since in DC at night but most cities have safer vs less safe areas to walk at night.

Large parts of downtown Orlando isn’t considered safe on w/e nights Jax?

Does anyone feel safe walking at night in any bad neighborhood? What kind of question is that? There are places all over the great state of Florida I’d be an idiot to traverse on foot at night. That doesn’t mean we need an armed government employee on every street corner in Florida. But this does touch on the age old question of - where is the happy medium on more or less government to “protect” us? I guess with a conservative in office conservatives are leaning into more government involvement. I think if Biden were still in office most conservatives would call this a pointless stunt and needless overreach.

I go back to the same question I've had about Trump for years now. Why the constant falsehoods? Does he really not know anything about all the stuff he keeps rattling off, or does he the truth and just figures his followers don't. And he knows they won't care if it's pointed out.

Depends on where you are, just like every large city. Yes, I would feel quite safe walking around Georgetown, Chinatown, Columbia Heights, Capitol Hill, Navy Yard, Foggy Bottom, U street, and a number of other neighborhoods in the city.

What kind of question is that? Are you suggesting we bring in the Feds for every city now or only specific ones? If you're referring to specific ones then shouldn't we concentrate on the top 50 cities with the highest crime rates? DC doesn't fit that category
